All,

Right now I have a modified pop-up trailer that holds 2 dirt bikes on the front and 1 on the back. It works well but has no fridge, no toilet, and no A/C. Also, use it for snowmobiling and hunting in the winter and determined that it's not much better than a tent in the cold.

Looking to upgrade to a small Toy Hauler, preferably one that can hold 4 dirt bikes or two snow machines. Also want to be able to sleep 5 or 6.

The smaller the better since areas I drag my current setup into areas that are a little hairy for large overhanging trailers.

Any brands to be aware of? I will be buying used and looking to spend less than $15k. Also, I would prefer a bumper pull since my dad would like to pull it from time to time and we don't want to setup his truck with 5th wheel hitches and whatnot.

Thanks for any advice,
Ed

Pulling it with my 05 Dmax Crew Cab at 8-10k feet of elevation often.

You can get a very nice trailer for 15 grand. How big do you want. A 20 foot trailer will hold what you want . Sleepin might be a little tight. Look on craigslist in all areas and you will see what you can get.

Found many on craigslist, seems like 20 foot is what would work. A couple of 3-4 year old ones are on there for $10k. They are Carson Fun Runners. Any word on those?

Such varied prices on these things, hard to understand what makes one expensive and the next one cheaper.

Fuel stations are nice that way you don't have to drag cans around.I had a 26 Pull behind and could go into back woods.I had a Thor it was ok never had a problem with it just didnt have a fuel station.I switched to a 5er now 33ft.

I recommend looking at units with more windows if possible when comparing to others. The smaller trailers can feel cave-like without them.

Our first trailer was a WW FT2200. It worked well but, ultimately we were far short on storage. Some kind of under the front bed outdoor storage is what I would look for in any small trailer. Set-up with the old trailer took far longer than with this new trailer even though the new trailer is about twice as long!

Good luck with the purchase!

Thanks DuneMe. Good advice. Any setup is bound to be faster than with my pop-up / toy hauler conversion.

I found this to be true over the years. When I first bought a camper I couldn't afford really what I wanted so I settled for something that would work, and I was happy with it(had no toys just camped).Next purchase I got something better with more stuff on it and it was bigger(had a dirt bike to go inside).Bought another toy (Rhino)it wouldn't fit through the door so I had to buy another TH lol.A 5er was now on the list I could put two bikes and a Rhino in this thing! But alas my truck was maxed out so I had to buy a new truck to pull the toys.I imagine I will keep this(5er) for a half a dozen years and I bet you I will then downsize! This same theory works for my housing arrangement lol.And it has also been the same case for boats. Its funny to think about it now and how things have changed. The excitement level has not really changed over the years I am just as excited as I was the first time I purchased my first camper.Heck I started with sleeping bags and worked through the whole tent progression.Sorry to ramble it just got me thinking so I decided to share.

jim87vette,

Sounds like me, I'm justing going a little slower than the other kids in the class. I bought my dmax because my 1/2ton had 200k on it and needed a new tranny. I figured a bigger trailer was in my future so I took the plunge.

I have a Wanderer Wagon by Thor. It's 28' long and a bumper pull. These seem to be a little cheaper in price than other haulers I have seen. It feels well built, heavier than most of the newer haulers (9600 lbs dry). I paid considerably less than what it was worth, but I have seen a few more floating around for under 12k. I found it on a local classified website. It has everything you are looking for and will sleep 8+.

We just bought a 30 ft. Salem LE Sport last yr. It's an 07, used, previous owner paid 36,840.00 for it. They sold everything they owned in Fl. loaded up their Harleys and pulled it over here and parked it. Generator had never been started, bed rolls were still factory sealed, tanks never used. We offered them 21K for it and they took it. Has a 26 gal. fuel station, Onan 4k microquiet gen., seperate garage, ramp extension, roll down screen room for garage, basically fully loaded except for elec. jacks. It has 1 slide out and not including people in the garage will sleep 6-8 comfortably. Do some looking, good deals are all over right now.

Wow, that is a great deal. My biggest problem is finding a toy hauler small enough to drag up into more remote camping spots. Most of these things are 11 feet tall and 25 or more feet long. I just need to carry 4 dirtbikes and sleep 4.

A frind of mine just bought an 18 ft. Thor IIRC, but it is a nice compact trailer. Just enough room to get the rhino in it but isn't overly tall at all. It's a comfortable setup really. He pulls it with an 04 F-150 pretty easily. Might be something to look in to.

i tell you what, if I had the $$$ to blow, A new KZ Inferno would be in my driveway.

Ab-so-lutely, no-shit, hands down the neatest toy hauler I have ever seen. the one I saw had a keg-er-rator in the back and everything!
