Looking to get the NV4500 in the 1994 K3500 rebuilt

havent tried, but pulling a 2wd is still a bitch, so I wouldnt. more manuverable without.

did the floorpan make it through unscathed? it sure is tight. did you remove the stub?

The floor pan is unscathed. With all the pressure off the engine it rocked back far enough to just clear the floor pan.

I'm thinking that trying with the transfer case would be futile without removing the rear cross member, And that would defeat the whole purpose of making things easier

Need advice on installing the clutch, bell housing and transmission.

When bolting the clutch to the flywheel should I use never-seez? blue Locktite? Nothing? Are the bolts lock bolts or should I re-thread them?

Any tips on installing the pilot bearing? The books I have, have no instructions that I have found at all.

When installing the studs on the bell housing. Are the nuts that hold all the wiring supposed to be lock nuts? Mine are. If not, I can run a tap through them.

Also on the studs holding the bell housing on should I use Never-seez? Blue Loctite? Nothing?

The studs for the bell housing are 3/8x16 going into the block.

The long bolts need to slide the transmission into the bell housing are M12x1.75 They take the place of the transmission to bell housing bolts while installing

I haven't gotten my new clutch yet but I assume lock tight would be needed. There is alot of vibration in those areas a d others have mentioned bolts falling out and causing havoc

Both transmissions have 6.34 : 1 first gears

the original is one special tranny. low gears and the newer top cover! if you figured they had been in it before, maybe they just changed the top cover, as IIRC the 6.34 gears made it through half or all of 94 production run.

I can't really tell if they had been in that one before. No tell tale signs.

I was told by Blumenthals, I think, that shifter could have come on that truck

it has a gasket. I bought the gasket, and a seal (on a 4wd GM NV4500, there is only a seal on the input shaft of the the t-case, so the coupler is lubed. dodge seals the output and input, so the coupler is dry.)

I cannot get PNs right now, as I am in Salt Lake, but when I return I can get you a number for gasket and seal (Gm numbers) , as it isnt installed yet.

You're in SLC and didn't let any of us know? I see how you are.

6.34:1 gears made it all the way to 96 yr models. Late 94 and 95's had low gears and Newer top cover.

6.34 gears can Fit through 96. all of 95 production and 96 production had 5.61 first and reverse. That is what I have heard, and all of mine hold true to that as well. not a fan of it for sure!

94 is the mystery year. things came and went away often! :)
