Here is this burb I am looking at. Does this sound like a PMD issue or an IP issue?

Here is the CL ad;

"1995 Chevy/GMC Suburban 4x4 Diesel Super Nice Condition! Has a Turbo Diesel that does run and drive but needs a new Injector Pump? I am not sure why it is running rough. But it will drive home no problem it just hesitates and runs rough sometimes. The Truck is super clean inside and out. Nice paint, interior is in awesome condition, leather power seats, cd player, nice hella lights up front, nice kc lights in the back, Tow package, Power windows, power door locks, cruise, A/C, 151k miles, clean title, Great rig just needs someone with the know how to get her running smooth again! Drive her home today for $1950 worth alot more than that but need the money."

Sounds like it could be fixed fairly easy. Hesitation could be fish bite due to that optic filter harness, especially since it's a '95. Runs rough could be air in the injector lines, filter, etc. I'd go check it out and give it a good shake down and report back.

I think figure on an IP, then if not, you are all the better. Even adding a $1000 it's a good deal if clean.

I wonder about air leaks. On mine that fuel line between the fuel filter and IP got all brittle and air would enter. Thus, FTB.

I dont think you'll know till you drive it.

Not sure what is up with CL sellers, but they are impossible to get a hold of. Last weekend it took the a seller two days to get back to me. This week, different suburban and seller has not returned calls or emails. I called and emailed him hours after he posted the CL ad. Guess times are good when they can turn their backs to buyers.

If he calls me today, i will most likely drive up to see it today (3.5 hours away). During the week and next weekend will probably be no-bueno for me.

OK, the guy with the '95 still has not responded to multiple calls and emails.

Another 6.5l burb popped up. It is a '97 1500 fully loaded 4x4. The seller states it has a blown head gasket. He is asking $2500. Here is what he said in response to questions about it's problems;

"Its running as far as you can start it and hear the motor runs good there is some water/smoke coming out the tailpipe but ive been told by the shop its best not to drive it cause it will just get worse if you dont fix it and just continue to drive on it.

Just last week it started. It overheated n I took it in."

What are the chances that the overheating cracked the heads?

I am thinking of jumping on it, but want to offer the right amount of money.

My second issue will be how to get it home or get it fixed in Sacramento (where the seller is).

$2500 is too much for one that knowingly has been run hot. Could cost $2000 or more to have a shop fix if it just blew a gasket. I would consider the engine toast if buying. Cost of remaned engine installed $6000+.

100% chance the heads are done. Almost a given. This is why he is selling most likely.

Yeah- I'd be real suspicious of a cracked block on the '97. I did the work myself to swap the engine and turbo in mine and spent over 3 grand for used motor and rebuilt turbo and several weeks of 3 nights a week after work doing the swap. I guess if you want one real bad and the rest of the truck is flawless and you have the cash, space, tools and time it may be an o.k. deal.

Not really looking for another one of those projects. My '89 burb getting the roller rocker 6.2 already has the title of taking up my time.

I am looking for a 6.5l sub to replace my wife's camry. Our 3rd boy will be here late May and we need something that will hold 5 (with three being in carseats). We also need 4x4 as we are in snow country.

3 car seats? I guess the camry would get a bit cramped!! God Bless ya, brother.... Could you fit them in a crew cab instead? Lately, I've found a few of them on Craigslist- no burbs....

A crew cab would work, but this will be the kid mobile and the only CC I can afford will be 8' bed 1 tons. A little big for our families DD.

There are quite a few burbs out their. I just have to find the right one, in my price range. My range is quite low and the lower the better. Finances will get super tight once Brianne quits her job in late April, early May. We are looking to spend in the 2-4K range (we would stretch up a little for a super special one). We are hoping to sell our camry for 2K.

So, another 6.5l burb on CL. This one is a '95 with 240K miles. Seller says heads have been replaced within the last year and starts right up cold with no smoke. He is asking $3500. It is about 4 hours away and I was about to jump in my car and go see it.

Then he called me and told me he forgot to tell me it has a "minor" problem with the transmission. He says it sometimes will not shift into 2nd while cold. He says you can shut it down and restart and it shifts fine. I decided to hold off, but want to know what the problem can be?

I have been wavering on my 6.5l requirement. The 5.7l burbs are a dime a dozen and it seems I can get more value for my $$$. '97-'99 burbs loaded and with 100K miles can be had for $4000. What kind of mpg do the 5.7l 1/2 ton burbs get? This will mainly be my wife's rig. I will still have my built 6.2l TD 1989 3/4 ton burb for work and tow duties. :confused:

my 99 5.7 tahoe got about 15-16 my 00 burb with the 5.3 will get 18

I really like the '00 burbs and newer, but they are out of my price range. We have talked about stretching up a little but decided now is not the time (when I land a principal job i will spend some coin). ):h
