hey guys,
after a short stint over on the cumminsforums i am back with a Duramax LB7.
it is an 04 with still less than 9k miles, even after i took the Audi down to TN to pick it up
and towed the Audi back - did not even feel it behind me really.

so wondering if there is enough LB7 traffic here to ask some stupid questions or if i need to go elsewhere for advice.

first dumb question : have a load of Stanadyne Performance Formula left over from the 6.5 and was wondering
if i could / should use it on the Kodiak ? It has a transfer flow tank so i am afraid the 140 gal of diesel will gel up
if it gets cold enough (Europe has seen deaths from the cold and it might get cold here soon too,
even though I was out in a t-shirt today and it does not look like it)....

Opinions / feedback / replies ?

Congrats on the new to you truck.

I've heard of Dmax owners using that fuel additive. Should be no shortage of knowledge on the lb7

Nice MD there Nick. Good to see you back around too. The Stanadyne is a favorite of many DMax guys. Go right ahead and use it.

Welcome back.. Plenty of LB7 info here... and if we're lacking, Ferm will fill in the gaps... :hihi:

I've used the STANADYNE in the past and had no problems with it. I use POWER SERVICE normally as it is easier to find and a bit cheaper. So you decided a full size truck wasn't roomy enough?

Have you SEEN Nick? I'm amazed he fits into the MD! :hihi:

Nice truck, Nick ... glad to see ya back!

I did NOT !!!! when i picked it up i had to remove the air ride seat, drill holes in the seat frame and place the seat 4 inches back.
Before I did that I could not even get behind the wheel as my legs were too long to get the knees in - not even close !!
Can you imagine that ? big azz truck like this ???

that entire mission was an adventure in itself, i am not even kidding - it will take me 6 months to get over all that happened and to enjoy the truck.

The first thing i learned the hard way is that to tow a big boy truck like this - you will need a big boy wrecker.....
(well ok, the second thing - first is that you can ONLY get commercial insurance for a truck this size)

Kodiak truck with all the bells and whistles : $64995
part that broke : $12 bleed valve
towing bill : let us not talk about it.

i did over 1700 miles in 4 days that week - the last stretch from TN with the Kodiak and the Audi in tow and ALMOST made it home (75 miles to go) and then i had to drive the Audi again while the Tow truck followed me.

It was 3:49 AM when i finally got home friday night.

So anyway enough of the whining and bitching, the truck is parked in front of the house and will get the complete anal OCD nick treatment
and hopefully will make me some of that money back.

So thanks guys, it is good being back, hope i can get some input LB7 wise for all the Medium specific stuff I might have to check the other site,
but other than a Banks Econo-Mind and iQ there is not much else to do - maybe an exhaust, but all that has to be custom made since there is not much out there after market wise. there is no heath diesel power for this behemoth beast.....
unfortunately.

if it were a regular LB7 i could just go and get a complete banks power package or whatever....

Welcome back!
You win the vehicle assortment award for having had one of everything :D

hardly for the trucks, i switch cars waaaay more often - i see you have a JSW TDI now - sweet !

You plan on hotshotting with it? Is it 4x4?

I've always wanted one and make it look like the transformer edition and cruise around in it.. :D

it is not a 4 x 4 and no, not really hotshotting - long story.

to make it look like the transformers truck I assume i would have to stick about $50k into it.... and i want to sell the house this year and build my own,
so i do not think putting money in the truck that will not amortize itself in fuel savings is not in the cards ...

Johnny (gasout) has a nice one like yours that is white...cept' he can drift that big son of a gun...

Congrats on the new rig Nick...you have my # if you want to talk LB7's...Mimi and I talk about you guys and wonder when we will gtg again

I learned to drift that dually cummins pretty quick, but that was easy with the 6speed.
Still practicing with this one.

We will come down again next chance we get. I spent last week in wellington, fl, so am racking up frequent flyer miles...

Tell mimi and the kids we said hi!

You guys should make your way to orlando/kissimmee area...we will be there from the 18-25th of February...
there is a big diesel race in Bradenton, FL the 23rd-25th that Nick(unit453) Grady(saratoga) Ferman(Fermanator), myself and maybe Jeff (8100power) will try to meet at...a bunch from other sites are going as well...I will only be there one day out of the family vacation...haven't decided which day I will attend yet...

It's still in the air. Buddy MIGHT be competing, so that would kill two birds with one stone so to say...

Just for compare, I thought I'd throw in a couple of my Nephew's LLY powerd GMC. '06 I'm pretty sure.
He says it handles like a much smaller truck.

Just seeing this thread, lol.

Nice truck Nick!!

How tall are you? I'm 6'6". ;)

i used to be 6'10" but i feel as i am already starting to shrink...
as age progresses .... and on the other hand growing in circumference steadily and inevitably ....
