Local 6.5l for sale

well, for that price you can buy it and stare at it in the yard drinking beer till you can figure out to do with it. It would make a fine farm truck as is, but the inner 5 speed enthusiast wants to see it knocked in the head to fix up a nicer factory 5 speed truck.

Dont have a nicer 5 speed truck that needs any of its parts. I dont want all 5 speeds, there are a lot of uses for an auto in daily driving.

It ran Ok once I held a pry bar against the starter and had someone crank it over. Then it died from hot pmd and I wasn't going to attempt cranking again with those bolts (it does have the brace though! Comes with 8 spare wheels and tires BTW, factory steelies and some older aluminum 16's (won't ever be seen on my truck except as rollers). Trans shifted fine, ses was on but other than that it wasn't terrible, it needs a parts truck to reassemble it to it's glory.

BTW, I took a pic of the RPO sticker. Never can remember what the gear codes are.

Yeah, 500 no problem. 600 he better pay for the pizza, wings, and drinks. No block damage under those starter ummm bolts?

Besides, WarWagon is saving one right now. Can't let him have all the fun, right?

Am currently running without a TCC dust cover as it needs modification to fit with the P-400. I asked Peninsular about this when we discovered that the dust cover would fit and got a response that it was not necessary nor would it hurt anything by leaving the cover off. Not sure that I am buying that position; just reporting the information.

Well the ear isn't snapped off and surprisingly the brace is there. The issue is I dont think the correct thread bolts were used in the holes, I can wiggle the bolts once they are tight, my biggest concern is the threads are stripped.

When the dust becomes a large rock :dead: You know the kind that breaks V-belts? Other road debris is just as much fun including straps, rope, tire debris, plants... Engine can stall from debris jamming stuff up and/or damage is likely.

GM didn't waste 6 bolts and a aluminum part for nothing.

As mentioned, was not sold on that philosophy ;) Besides, what does the vendor care as long as the motor makes it past the 12K miles / 12 month mark . . .

Need to find a machine shop to notch out the shield so I can get it back in place.

SawsAll is your friend.

I will agree, autos do make a good runaround, and you dont have to worry about who can drive it. There is definitely a place for them for sure.

Soooo, is it in the yard yet? :)

What! ?!?!!...What's that you say???
NEVER thought I'd hear that from you of all people...

A runaround farm truck that multiple people will drive, probably best to get an auto. Company fleet truck that a new hired guy, a customer, basically anyone and his brother might get in, need something universal that you are not attached to that you can turn them loose and not worry.

In my case where I am the only driver, better get the superior choice in gear selection, aka a manual transmission! :)

Don't worry, I am still very anti-auto and pro-manual trans, but occasionally there is an application where an auto does make sense, and a runaround truck is just that. For a full blown field truck that you might be trying to get unstuck solo, a manual truck you can lock in 4 low and granny first, turn it loose, go hop in the swather, combine, etc. and try to get out, can only do that with a manual. In fact that is my new search item for the next service truck out in Idaho, looking for a 92-93 K3500 SRW ECLB 6.5L 5spd 4wd.

There is definitely a place for everything, where I differ from most is my list of places where an auto is superior is a much, much shorter list than everyone else's. :)

Plus, its easy to be an auto fan when you have an allison 1000..... :D lol! try having a 4 speed slop box behind a ford or dodge....:)

4 speed slop box behind a ford or dodge... Well they are quicker from 0-60 with the slushbox. I can check my watch twice between gears on the NV-5600. Reliability is a myth for either in my experience.

MPG the NV-5600 walks all over the auto's by nearly double. 10 mpg auto vs 16 MT in town.
