LBZ Power Loss

Is there a TSB for that? I havent heard a thing about it.

THAT'S real damn interesting! I, also, had never heard that...

I'm only relaying my own experience and the experience of people I know directly along with what the dealer has told us.

I haven't yet heard of a TSB on this, but I personally know 6 friends that have had this issue. At first we thought it might be because of the bio that we all run, but then two of the friends that had this failure have never run bio. On top of that, one of my friends (who's gone through 2 of these filter housing units) was without his truck for an extra week because the brand new filter housing unit that the dealer got in to replace his bad one had a leak in it right out of the box. I was told when mine went out "we've seen quite a few of these fail" and I've had friends relay similar stories they've been told by other dealers.

Mine was replaced while out of the 36,000 mile warranty, but covered under the 100,000 mile diesel warranty. I only had to pay my $100 deductible. About a month after mine was replaced, I received a $100 deductible refund check from GM...

That's all I know. (isn't much is it? ):h)

Well... Its back...
Just changed the fuel filter the other day and it came right back. I'm leaning towards the fuel filter housing. Any way to test that? I thought Merchant Auto had a replacement bleeder screw to replace the oem plastic one. I may try that first. Any ideas?

Is the bleeder screw leaking? Possibly sucking air? If not I would try cleaning the MAF again. If that does not fix it than look at other things. If it does try a different air filter (dry type)

I didn't pick up on that at first Travis. An oiled AF has been known in many cases to play hell with the MAF sensor. I've gotten as many arguments against as thanks for the advice on that theory though.

I agree with the against arguments as I run a K&N and have never had a single problem with an oily MAF sensor. I believe you must let the filter sit after applying the oil for a while and then wipe off the excess with a paper towel.
Maybe some sensors are more sensitive than others?

Ok so you guys had me thinking when you started mentioning the bleeder screw. I checked it and no leaking. MAF is clean. Air Filter is clean.
So I decided to see if I could tight the bleeder a little more. I always you a flat head to do it, but its getting kind of torn up. So I used a 1/2 socket to sort of cinch it tight, and believe it or not, its actually much better. Although still there when I really lay into it while on the highway.
I ordered a bleeder screw from lubrication specialist (Thanks btfarm). should be here in the next day or so. Its at least driveable, but at time when you need pass on the highway it feels like your barely pushing the accelerator then bam it hits and then drops off again. Wierd.

I'll let you know how it goes after i get the new bleeder.
Btw, can you believe the stealer wants $18.50 for a new PLASTIC bleeder?!? rediculous. I called them to possibly just get another plastic one until the metal one arrives..... Ha! forget that. I'll wait.

Yeah I thought about that. I dont have one, but I may run up to the hardware store and see if they have something that would work in the mean time.
Thanks.

So I realized I never updated this thread.
Long Story short, new aluminum bleeder screw and still had the same problem.
A friend mentioned that he had a leaking fuel filter housing on his LLY which caused a similar problem. Started looking at that but couldnt find anything wrong with it.

Ended up pulling out the Fingerstick since it seems like it wasnt doing its job anyways and problem went away. It's been fine for at least the last 2 months.
Lesson learned. I have the PPE and when set back to stock, the EGR codes were still being set, so I figured the thing wasnt doing its job. Must have been it. Thanks for all the help.
