LBZ Dmax thermostat

Those are the same boxes they come in if you buy them direct from GM, so be assured you got the same stats as came in it new. The T-stats for the DURAMAX come straight from JAPAN as they are made by ISUZU.

I didn't even think of the Isuzu made in Japan thing. Makes sense now. They will be going in 2mro then all I need is the fan clutch.

The Rad Cap is made in india and sensor in mexico. Pick your poison! lol Where is the coolant sensor located? It snowed here so I have been out feeding cattle, once the truck cools a bit I will be pulling it apart. Being 16* helps the cooling process and the heated shop helps get the work done :D

Went into the shop and realized I didn't reserve a spot.

Not bad for a bunch of farm kids. We went over it real quick w/ a sander, cleaned it a few times. That's only one coat, it will get another later.

So far just puttering on back roads and bouncing 180-189 @ 32*f.

Should have asked earlier, is there a specific way to index them in their holes?

I need to do this also, thanks for the info on the AC Delco 'stats. Should I also be replacing the fan clutch?

I'm doing the clutch, it still works but by 6.5l rules 5 yrs is all they last w/o losing some fan rpms. I see 230* easy in the summer, that's where the clutch kicks in. I have been able to push temps over 230 easy.

The front stat with the bypass blocker on it goes in any which way, but the rear has to go with the bleeder holes to the rear or else they won't drop in all the way.

Ok then I did it right, the 2 bypass valves are to the rear of the engine. The rear T stat was stuck in the housing so when I popped it out it fell and I couldn't tell what direction things pointed. I tried to use the brakes and make the truck work (kinda fun in freezing mist) and I got the truck up to 192 tops and it went back down. So I think the Tstats might be ~5* warmer than advertised but not a real "problem". I will do the fan clutch 2mro and check my idlers.

Unless your watching the temps on a scanner, your not seeing actual temps. The factory gauge will read 195 if engine temps are anywhere between 170-220.

Yeah, the temp hovering a little higher than the tstat setting isn't really an issue as long as they open and close all the way.

I think I had one tstat stuck part open but wouldn't open all the way. That would explain my overheat towing in the summer problem and not warming up in the winter.
