I just bought a 04 2500HD after getting back from Afghansitan this last summer. I put an Edge Juice w/ attitude, 4" turboback (w/silverline muffler), and and AFE stage II intake. It's also still got a hypertech 3 stage program on it. When I get on it on level 5 it will hit 1350F really fast and defuel. Is that typical of LB7's?

You're going have high EGT's, especially with a programmer, I see you've already opened the exhaust up. There are different tuners that do a little better, but really you just need more air.

1350 isn't to bad I don't think. Just over 1600 or so for long periods of time is bad.

First off welcome back

2nd take the hypertec off. You dont want to be stacking programs.

3rd. 1350 isnt too bad. I ran 2100 pulling last summer to give you an idea. General rule of thumb 1400* for 30 seconds is max. Use that as a guide for how long to sustain other EGTs.

Definately take the Hypertech off, You're doing more harm than good stacking tuners like that.

As far as the defueling from the high egt's it can be adjusted on the edge. You may want to raise the max egt limit because if you haven't its probably still set on 1200*. Remember there is both a egt alarm, and a max egt setting.

Mine used to hit almost 1400* in the 1/8th mile with just the Edge. But that was with stock exhaust and a stock airfilter. I cut the muffler off and lost almost 200*

I see you have the PPE Boost Valve on yours. Did it really do what it says? How much extra boost did you get out of it?

Yes it does. I gained about 5-6 psi and dropped a few egts too:beer: Turbo seems to spool up faster too

My truck usually goes to 1800* with my race tune. I'm pretty sure 1350 is ok, but like a few others said, stacking will lead to trans problems. Oh yeah the PPE boost valve works.

And the Edge level 5 is more than enough to cause trans problems too. I wouldnt run on that too often...

Level 5 is ok, as long as you aren't towing. I ran level 5 with no problems until I stacked the Superchips!!! It went really good but my trans didn't like it.

Mine has been on level 5 ever since i put it on the truck. The only time it has come off level 5 was when towing. the key to prolonging transmission life is not changing power levels all the time, pick one and leave it there. The Allison adapts to the power changes and adjusts the shift pressures accordingly.
