I have the axel nut off and the 4ea 15mm head bolts out. The axel can be pushed back in the splines about 1/4" and springs back.
I still can not pull the hub off.
Am I missing something?

they usually get rusted/corroded on and need a slide hammer or some strategic pounding along the outside of it.

I've used my BFH and chunk of wood before, try to angle the wood so you are hitting the hub towards you. Kinda a pain.

my slide hammer was probably the best investment I've ever made. My '00 Impala's hubs were really stuck and it took several "all out swings" with the slide hammer to get it out.

Oh ya, don't forget to unplug any ABS wires BEFORE you start pounding :D .......from experience ):h

How do you attach the slide hammer to the hub or rotor to pull it?

The caliper is off for replacement. Plannig to get a new one/rebuilt at the local NAPPA

The Rotor is NOT off yet. That is all I really need to get off.

OK, my slide hammer adapters will not fit over the studs so I will have to build an adapter to make it work.
Thanks,
Jeff

sometimes there's a couple little thin "washers" holding the rotor on on a couple of the lug studs. Just cut them off any way you can.

hmm, your beyond all the issues I've ever had.

They salt the roads alot in your area don't they. I bet that is the root of your problem.

Original rotors??

Not the original rotors. This is on the 96 k1500 Suburban, 250,000 miles. And it has seen lots of salt.

Guess I'm to the stage of oiling and whacking. Sooner or later I will win. Hopefully the drivers side goes easier.

not sure if the 8 lug 1500 are the same but on my 8 lug 2500 you have to pound the studs out as they are are pressed into the rotor and hub there is a thread in the TRL about it

The rotor comes off with the hub. I ended up beating on the heads of the special bolts that hold the hub on to the knuckle.I had already rounded the heads off anyhow. Penetrating oil won't help much. Emery cloth the part of the knuckle the hub goes into. apply lots of anti-seize to the surfaces. You may be the next one to take it apart.

This is correct. You need to remove the 4 bolts on the inside of the steering knuckle holding the on hub/bearing assembly. Then take the rotor and hub/bearing off as a unit. Disassemble and reassemble the units on the bench. As mentioned, thread the 4 bolts into the assembly on the bench with about a 1/4" space before the bolt heads bottom. Then strike the bolts to loosen the rotor from the bearing. Back out the bolts as you go and keep striking until you have separation. If this was a 6 lug, the rotor would come right off after the wheel and caliper were removed. Good luck.

I' tried that on mine and it wouldn't even budge.
Not big enough hammer:D:eek::mad2: My 92 daily driver had 3 of the 4 hub bolts loose when I bought it. I had driven it for over 10,000 miles that way:eek::eek: Who knows how long po had driven it that way. I was smacking the bolts with a 6lb hammer as hard as I could swing. It took well over 50 smackes on each side to get it apart:confused::mad2: My next plan if that didn't work was to brake the rotors off:eek::thumbsup: to gain access to the hub where it goes into the knuckle. There was quite a few new swear words invented that day. I had to go to the stealer for new bolts. They robbed me for over$8 per bolt x8

I ended up sharpening a couple of screwdrivers and driving them in between the hub and dust shield on the wifes burb 1/2 ton but was able to use the big pry bar on the 3/4 ton.
