Is this a K47 air box?

No writing or sticker on this air box it and it's 200 miles from me...

Hoping someone here could help confirm if this is the K47 option air box or not?

The junk yard suggested this air box cames from a truck that has the K47 three letter code in the glove box???

TIA,
69

You can replace that real tight/narrow black elbow with a 3" sewer 90 from Home Depot, and not only is it wider, and less abrupt in the corner, but it straightens out that ruffly rubber boot considerably. A great mod. I noticed slight improvement.

I made a piece from pipe and flat plate. I wanted a flange on mine so it cannot get sucked into the turbo if the clamp loosens.
You might see if something like that is made for some other app that you can buy or make one.

Installed the box yesterday, it fit like a glove. Used a hex head 1 & 1/2" PCV plug to fill the muffler hole, what in the world were they thinking of with that?

Matt thanks for the tip on the 3" sewer 90...

Thanks for all the replies everyone :smile5:

Noise. It really quiets down the intake noise. Maybe not noticeable in a loud truck, but very much so in a (reasonably quiet) Suburban. When I first installed mine, I didn't install the resonator. The increased noise over the flat plate filter was substantial. So much so that my wife (it was her DD) complained. So I had to find a resonator. Once I had it installed, the intake noise was much less. Its hard to believe how much difference it makes.

Here are some install pics of the K47 air box...

I don't think it took more then 15 min to install it, very simple.

Currently waiting for the new Amsoil Nano filter from the Oilgeek, what a great gent he is to talk with

Yup that's on my list of things to pickup, got a question though?

Can I use the 3" 90 with that rubber fitting that came with the K47 or do I have to use my old one Matt?

Have to confess I'm not confident that this flows any additional air then my old one did...??? I need to hook up the puter & gather some IAT data to compare, no doubt it's sucking air form the fender, just hope that is not costing me volume??? I'm getting a some indication of unburned fuel when revving the motor now that I had never noticed prior, maybe it was always there & I just never noticed it, but I don't think so...

IF your old one was the flat unit, its the filter and snorkel? thats the main problem I think.

I have factory K47, so I used my factory boot.

Sounds normal revving black smoke, Your demanding just way too much fuel to properly burn... It can't get trapped in the cat, and its moving fast and easy.... Mine does it, i'm sure everyone elses does too.

No question its not better. Its better.

Should be different anyhow with the geeks high flow nano!

Mine should arrive tomorrow. My K&N I'm replacing was a super super snug fit on that elbo, so curious to see how this pans out...

Also I'm a good seat of the pants tester as I drive this thing each and every day, all day, different routes everyday.

We'll get to see my 'expert' analysis of the 2. It will be worth exactly what you paid for it. :)

No my old one pictured here had no snorkel, I had fabricated a tin cover that I did confirm reduced my IAT's considerably like same day data in town drop I noticed almost 20F reduction in the IAT's from 150 to 130. The IAT temp is the primary reason I opted to go with the K47 box.

Did you hook up the 3" PVC to the rubber boot that was from your old flat box or were you able to fit it into the K47 boot? The boot on the K47 is smaller where it connects to the box side then the one on my old flat setup.
