Found this on classifieds, any red flags or should I snatch it?

"Stanadyne injector pump for 99 6.5 turbo diesel
I bought this stanadyne injector pump for my truck. Turned out it was more serious than the pump.... so never used it. Cost me 1700.00 [cad] will let it go for 750.00 [cad]. I had it pressure tested at Fenton diesel and got an a + report back."

It looks nice, but, I am always wary of used components in classified adds. If it is a member in this forum then I doubt there would be much of a problem with getting the pump from them, trying it out and if it did not work 100% You could send it back to them with a full refund if money had exchanged hands before they sent it to You.

I wrote out all of my concerns with the tag and sent supporting screenshots from Stanadyne bulletins.

Response in short was: bought $2300 new, it sat 2 years in box, then got tested by diesel specialist for $300, it returned with great paperwork, then all paperwork and receipts were taken by a parting business partner. The seller is suing their former business partner for multiple things taken.
At present they cannot send or show anything of the the paperwork, and they are "NOT interested in jumping through flaming hoops" to sell this pump.

That is a rebuilt pump, not a factory new.
Brand new pump with a new pmd and 2 year warranty is $1750.
My son said he had an A+ in all his classes. Then I got the report card. No paper = no proof it was ever checked.
Who the hell sends a new pump that sat on a shelf in for testing instead of just installing it. So he wanted to ensure it was worth putting on, so spend $300 to test- but still never installed? Hmmm

Last chance is if you call the place yourself and they can verify it is in good condition, and there is at least a 30 day warranty. You need to install on a running engine asap to verify.

Otherwise pass

Went back and looked at first pic.
Made in 04
Do the math. Bought new and sat for 2 years then tested and then sat for how long after A+ report?

The loom is a ld and cracked
The stickers are all gone but one and it is hilariously worn, and the plastic it is on shows wear from connection.
Contamination plugs on fuel inlet and return, but none on the injection line connections?
The discoloring of the threads on the uncovered line connection points indicate lines on them. From the testing?
Why did he remove the pmd?
Where’s the rear harness and boot that comes on all new ip’s that connect to rear and pmd?

Nuff said?

Asked Quadstar if they ever saw P suffix before, they said J and S are the only correct labels.

Just emailed the seller a lengthy no thanks for multiple sketchy reasons.
It might be ok but I won't take the risk for the asking price.

That looks real nice. GM spec tag, makes me wonder if it is a brand new/old stock pump.
I dont know if there are ULS components available for these pumps.
If there is I’m going to send in My rebuilt pump for a rebuild.

I have a new 5521 pump on my 1 ton that is ULS compatible, bought it a few years ago from a Stanadyne shop. I don't remember the number/letter designation on it.

Looks real- so does 3 card monty- hut hey, sometimes the house looses and you win.
Boy thats a helpful shoulder shrug, huh? I’d bite that hook if I was hungry.

ULSD ds4? Not that I know, but I sure don’t follow ds4 because -momma says they are the devil.
It really was db2 with the wazoo guts available, done for unky sam running crap jet fuel (aka 75% kerosene 25% watered down gas with poor qc and maybe a rock or two on occasion) that the hardened parts were made for. But could be they carried over after enough people hounded them.

The ip is the king nightmare of this nightmare engine. So in the end, to avoid taking it in the end- buying from a trusted source is the key 99% of the time. Idk how it works on kijii - if you can 100% get $ back, then yes worth the risk. Otherwise spend more money and get it where your only worry is the cost of purchasing, instead of the cost of RE-PURCHASING...

Both the DS4 and DB2 are available with ULSD compliant parts. The DS4 is obsolete as of this year so no more new pumps will be built. Parts will still be available though. So if you want a new latest and greatest DS4 its now or never. The Db2 is still going strong and will for quite some time thanks to uncle sam.
