Is my truck a lightweight?

My truck is just under 7000lbs. This is on a DOT scale so I hope it to be correct.

Put it on the scale a couple of days ago, weighed in at
5,940 pounds, with an almost full tank

Is yours a 1500?

Damn 6.5 must fly... I weigh mine in and out everyday, 9800average in, a little shy of 9200 out...

I remember it being 8700, then 88... then 89... I just keep adding more tools/boxes/bed modifications..

I have a metal bender (brake) permanatly mounted up top, and just got a new (used) 18x18x36 Diamond plate box to put on top of my other boxes... ($45 dollar score)... new they go $450+. Waited a long time to find a score for that.

I also store extra wood on the set of horizontal 'racks' i built.

You're all lightweights... Tookie, your truck must fly....

6480# on my K1500 extended cab (before adding big bumper), I suspect scale is off (in a scrap yard that pays by the pound ? would they let their scale go off low.....Nah) the K2500 frame has more metal in it than a 1500, so I suspect it to be heavier.

I've scaled several times at truck stops CAT scales, those tend to be more accurate, as they pay the fine if scale is wrong.

RC/LB 4X4 2500HD. Weighed a lot of times at our local dump scale, seems to come out around 6,300 lbs.

On the other hand, my buddy has a truck identical to Heath's, except it's red and doesn't push 150 MPH. ):h

1995 EC/SB 1500 2wd with 5 bolt axles. Thing weighs not much over 5,000, and it took all my mods to beat him stock. Of course, he has an auto vs. my NV4500

I come in right at about 7000 lb. Is yours a 6 lug or 8 lug 2500? If it's an 8 lugger, is it a full float rear or semi-float rear?

I would try a certified scale, scrap steel yard around here is sketchy too. My 1987 GMC 1500HD is a REAL lightweight... 4078 lbs. with a full 20 gallons of fuel. Just shaved more weight, so should weigh about 4028 lbs.

I can't wait to weigh my new 3500HD, with just the frame, engine, and trans, the tractor won't lift even the end of it.

Mine's a C2500
Scale has you drive on, weigh, unload and reweigh.
So low wouldn't help them, but we have a scale
at the plant I work at, I'll recheck
It would if they weren't counting full lbs. If they measured a pound at 90% of it's actual weight, they would save 10%.
