is my 6.5L sluggish or is it normal

Sorry guys I've been busy with some Shit that's been goin on.

Update is,
I changed the t-stat still not reading the correct temp so I changed the temp sensor now it reads correct at about 180 I think it was(been a week since I drove it) but it still idles high.

Also replaced the exhaust with a 4" turbo back from heath diesel along with a turbo master and set it at 2.5" which according to the sheet is the stock setting, I was gonna set it higher but I couldn't get a wrench on the last bolt on the lift pump so I could adjust it. Anyway the truck still runs the same doesn't chirp the tires or blow black smoke if I smash the throttle.

The only thing I can think of is that it still has the stock crossover pipe so maybe the inside is collapsed???? So im ordering a new 1 so we'll see what happens

If you're talking to Heath Diesel, then you're on the right track. Those guys are second to none. This site, too, is full of great information you won't find many other places. Welcome aboard

The high idle works off a seperate temperature switch I think, than the sender for the gauge. How is your idle determined, is there are set screw that you can just turn it down?

If you have no black smoke then your turbo is spooling fine, but I would still replace the crossover pipe if it is the stock type.

What size tires and what gearing does the truck have? Tall wide tires will make it sluggish.

Ill have to see if there is an idle adjustment. As for the tires I believe they are stock size but ill check the exact size when I get home.

You need a psi gauge, put it on the end of the T drain hose. PSI at idle should be at least 5. Better yet is to extend the line and tape it to your windshield and go for a WOT run, it should be 1psi minimum.
