is it time to give up?

Rust is something I don't deal with here. Last frame I sent to the scrapyard was bent up. Rust will end the useful life as a frame failure can cause a bad wreck.

Frame, cab, fuel tank, glass, front/rear diff and some wiring are all that is original on my 93 Chevy. Everything else has been swapped out for new or off the scrapped 1993 GMC. Seats, carpet, dash, engine, trans, transfer case, front end - does it ever end?

That good running engine has limited life. Cracks, sudden bad injector, or bearing wear will kill the 6.5. The ATT and tune are items that would transfer. It is hard work to swap an engine and getting 7000 miles and 3 weeks before failure really sucks. in my case an Elk not a failure.

Big question is how much is the truck making you and would it justify replacing it? Can you park it as a spare?

Spokane, WA craigslist has pretty good deals, not just vehicles but other sections as well. Just seems like a lot of people who are just trying to get rid of things and don't really care about making a fortune. It's probably good that I don't live closer or my garage would be filled with all the free stuff I see posted. I've seen some killer deals on vehicles that I search for. Can't wait for my wife to start working again so we get a little extra cash to capitalize on those deals.

Contrast to the Moscow/Pullman one where people think their junk is worth more than gold.

well, first off, I need to say my frame is fine. Secondly, Kenny, take a deep breath and calm down. There, that's better. I appreciate the help, but you went off like a bottle rocket, was worried about your blood pressure. I see you have the same Craigslist-truck deals addiction I have. Thirdly, I am in southern NH, I could only travel New England states for a deal.

I cant find that diesel sub needing a motor, must be gone. found one with a plow for decent money. Think I might sell the truck to my cousin, he drives it a lot and is in love with it. Think he'd give me $2500 for it. Thought about just buying a little Blazer (well not little, a k5) just to finish out the plowing season with.

My sander is now broken, my plow is hanging by a thread, and in addition to all the other problems I now have the driveshaft out changing the rear u-joint. On the ground, in the snow. Least I caught it in time. Not fun, I had to come in and warm up because my fingers hurt!

So, I dont really want to throw a plow on the 82, trucks not really ideal for driveways and it isn't even done yet. So maybe I should sell the diesel, buy the sub, then start over buying goodies for the sub. Probably take a lot to make it pull the camper, but I have the 454 truck for that anyway. Unfortunately if I do that deal I'll lose mt ATT, my Kojo tune, etc etc.

I just don't know what to do.

Who says I was just looking for you...:D
Besides, my Mother in law will be the one to give me a heart attack. Truck shopping lowers my blood pressure..:rof:

AS broke as I may be the vehicles in this thread perked my interests. $775 a year for insurance and plates isn't to much to pay for a good dependable auxilary vehicle.

why dont you buy the sub then replace all the stuff you like on your truck by swapping it with the sub

that was one plan, if I coulda found that 99 Sub again that needed motor work. But I really cant afford to keep the dually and get a sub. Plus, I rent now and am only allowed 5 vehicles, and I'm already over that so something has to go. I am going to hate to see the ATT, Kojo and Diamondeye exhaust go, probably miss the remote start most of all. But, I will just have to pick away at building the sub the way I want.
What sub, you ask? Why, the 94 I just scored off of craigslist for $1000! Woo Hoo!! Rather than go into detail here I'm going to start a new thread to brag about my (hopefully) great find.

Still havent got the Burb home, and I cant get rid of my 97 until plowing season is over. But now I'm torn over what to do. I dread the thought of trying to save up the money to do all the 6.5 mods over again, especially the ATT which is the most costly. Part of me wants to strip the truck down and put all the goodies on the Sub, but then I'm left with a near worthless dually. I can't keep the ecm and I have a stock turbo to put back on, so I could swipe the ATT, but I really can't take the exhaust, which probably would be a pita to make fit a sub, and the Walbro and FTB would render the truck useless. I've got an offer of $2000 on the truck as it sits, without the big tires, plow or sander, knowing it needs a bedside and crossmembers. And I dont think he'd mind if I swapped turbos. But what good is an ATT with no exhaust, Walbro and FTB?
I also planned on sticking the tires on my other dually, but that would be a problem too, because I want to keep them under the bed, and the big ones are going to stick out so far I'll need flares, which will ruin the whole point of the way the truck was built.
I can take the $2k and buy all new ATT, tune, exhaust and everything else, but I also need to buy another snowplow, as the 810 is not going on the sub, it's too big and its worn out anyway.
What to do, what to do?

After this years snow how could one even think of selling a plow................

Kenny, what ever happened to the plow on that blazer?
