I remote mounted my FFM. I hate the idea of diesel running down on the engine too and makes it much easier to change (not that its all that hard) I don't even have to step up on the bumper anymore

I did some research this a.m. and I may have upgraded the bf1201 element for stock ffm has ratings of 5 micron with 50 % capture in single pass test bf 957 is 96% at 20microns in single pass test and we all know full only passes through filter once un like hydraulic system that circulation so I found info in my Baldwin master catlog their is a good page on how filters get their micron ratings also in Parker raycor book agrees on how filters get a micron rating also found ratings by Google the filter no and add micron ratings to filter cant post links dealers are not members almost noon wish dale Jarrett was driving that big Brown truck no ip yet but it is usually around three when I see ups anyway

Yep in a fuel system you only get one chance to stop an abrasive, sluge, stuff....ect So IMO go with the finest filter you can that will provide a reasonable change interval. Two stage filtering accomplishes that.

Yea im thinkin 20microns for a primary and 5- 10 for asecondary but I am looking at single pass test results for filters w a 1x14 thread in looking for a 5 micron filter w at least a 80% TEST RESULT remember what was in raised letters on the old caterpillar fuel caps "buy clean fuel and keep it clean"

There is also the last ditch screen in the IP fitting!! how many flters do you need?? I have a tank sock, mesh pre filter in the raptor fuel pump, fuel filter in the FM, Glass viewer filter and IP inlet filter. A bit overkill IMO

The trucks and equipment I have been around in my life time all have two filter system I just feel like the light duty mfg have dropped the ball stanadyne puts dual filters on most of its systems for industrial applications so why did thay just put one on gm diesels cause gm convinced them thay had it covered w tank sock u only get one shot to clean fuel going to ip so why not do it right even the high dollar air dog and fass systems aint all that when u research there filter tests thay are bout 50% clean on a one pass 5 micron test I am a diesel repair shop owner I have access to filters factory reps I buy at jobber prices or wholesale if u please I think I can do as good as a 4-6 hundred dollar fuel supply system cheeper where im from diesel power was for longevity and production not a vanity thing and it was cheep till it became stylish I just want the good old days back but it will never happen but I can dream and skheme all I want to
