Interesting Torque Explanation, 30's Cat RD6

Very nice.... it did not make me an engineer......... but at least I now completely understand the basic difference between HP and Torque......... and what gives an engine each.
 
Yeah real power is a combination of torque and speed. Doesn't matter how fast the engine is running if there's no torque to go with it
 
Neat to see such big components in a smaller machine. Sounds cool! I wonder what the idle rpm is? That thing had a bunch of rings. Was almost like a diesel powered hydraulic ram. Different way of explaining torque curve on the rpm part. Really highlights how a big mechanical ip governs the speed /fuel rate and really load determines rpm. It’s not that he is lugging the tractor. Throttle is set and it will go as fast as it can. It’s different with that kind of gearing and rpm range vs load and stall force than driving modern stuff where we more control ground speed.
