Installing oil fill neck - Sealant or oil?

That's all I've ever used. I've been known to expand the tube a bit beforehand though so it's a real tight fit.

I'm with bison. If it was new I prolly would just put some oil on it, but on my old dry rotted/shrunk ones I give it a thin coat of formagasket.

Rtv makes them slide in easy and helps seal the aged rubber.

Just my 2 Cents worth

If the rubber grommet is soft and plyable, I just lube the filler tube and slide it in.

If the grommet is getting a tad on the hard side then I clean it good with BrakeKleen and use a bit of RTV on the pipe.

Judgement call all the way me thinks.
