Installing fog lights Tommorrow Lighting options

I bought the factory fog lamp kit for my truck.

It came with 9145 Bulbs.

I am looking at some options

I have 2 9005 Hid Ballasts and one 9005 Hid Bulb I was thinking about ordering this so I have 2 bulbs. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/XENO...ryZ36476QQihZ002QQitemZ120354787945QQtcZphoto

I originally had HID's in the low and high beams but I lost one of the lows so I modded one of the 9005's to work in the low and bought some Silverstars for the high's because the HID's don't work great in the Highs due to warm up time.


So do I buy just the HID bulbs and reuse the rest of the kit for the fogs?

or put the 9145's in the highs and put the silverstars ultras in the fogs?

or leave the 9145's in the fogs and the silverstars in the highs?

Decisions Decisions What are your guy's opinions?
 
I'd go with HID's in the fogs. I dont know why I waited so long to do it myself but I got tired of constantly blowing out silverstars.

Here, I rarely use my high beams. I think I've only had them on maybe 3 times since May. I'd run silverstars in the highbeams and HID's in the low and fogs.
 
Nick I think we both have the same Hid kit from HID outdoor equipment

Have you tried there replacement bulbs?

I was also curious why there kits are $66 dollars now instead of $100 not that thats bad but I don't want it to crap out in a month
 
I dont know why they'd be cheaper. Mine were around $110 when I bought them but I've never needed to buy a replacement set...Knock on wood of course...Now that I say that...
 
I guess I'll try buying the bulbs. I put the 9005's in the fogs and the HID's still drown out most of the fogs it is better than without fogs but you cant beat HId's all around
 
No you cant. If you're buying a set for the fogs, why not just got with 9145's?

If you've never run with HID fogs, you wont know what you're missing. The lighting is so intense you'll wonder why you waited so long.

What color temp are you going with?
 
Same thing supposedly. Some websites call them 4300's and some call them 5000's. That particular seller calls them 5000's, in pure white. Their 6000's are a nice color too.

My sig pic is mine to the left with the 5000's and Rydnhi4x4's to the right with 6000's.
 
9005's and 9145 Hid's are The same thing No?

I will get 5k to match the low beams
 
No, 9005's are high beam bulbs.

Actually, in a regular 55-65 watt halogen bulb, high beams a 65 watt (I think) and fogs are like half that. In HID, they're all 35 watt or 55 watt, depending on the type of light you get. So, yeah, they're the same thing, for HID standards.

WOW it is amazing with the lift having the fogs really helps

how well do the hid kits work when switching back and forth between high and low? i want to do the conversion, but i have to switch back and forth a lot sometimes. i got silverstar ultras in my high right now

what do you recommend?

ive got some extra driving lights and some old school fog lights up front.
 
Your GMC uses refractor lenses, which tend to scatter light everywhere. Alot of people still do the conversion anyways though and dont get flashed often.

Unless you're living in a very remote area and use your highbeams alot, dont bother with HID's for your high beams. Keep your ultras in there. Just get a set for your low beams. Its much less actual wear and tear on the bulb and ballasts constantly turning them on and off.
 
i do about 50/50 for high/low beam driving i live in small town and drive at least 5 miles of country road to the nearest store, mostly high beams unless im in town, and i have aftermarket headlights
