Hello,
New member here. Been watching for a while as I have a project vehicle I am about to start working on. I am going to build a P400 up with centermount turbo and install it in a van. I have a possible used P400 longblock that I was told was used in a Dyno only for testing.

What should I look at with a longblock to test if it is in good condition? I can do a compression test if needed. the crank moves pretty freely. What about any other components? any advice is appreciated. thanks.

After compression would be cylinder leak down test.
Oil sample sent to lab, but guessing this is inspect then decide while there if you buy.

Other than that if they let you open it up, like the pan off- look at bearings, cylinder walls, etc. That would surprise me if someone went for that.

Thanks, I will do a Cylinder draw down test and compression test. IF they let me have an oil sample then I will take it but I am not sure what to test for in the oil. I am guessing metal? but any input there would help. Thanks!
