So I noticed I have a injector knock on start I replaced all 8 glow plugs already. The knock is on the driver side I high idle at 1200 then the knock go's away after the smoke clears. I was thinking of doing my injectors soon should I replace the injector nozzles also or just the injectors or should I chase the problem down to see if the glowplug wire is bad on the one cylinder? I know it's a fuel knock because it has that distinct sound and you can tell one cylinder isn't firing but then does after a few seconds on start up or should I not even worry about it.

Sounds like a bad injector. I would pull them all and have them tested, depending on the miles on them chances are none of them are top notch anymore
The sooner the better.

Ehh I mise well just buy all 8 and replace them why test them should I get new nozzles or have the nozzles tested?

I just pop tested a set today Let me know If I can help.

The nozzle is whats inside the body. By the time you buy nozzles you'll also need new crush washers and probably have to get some shims to unless you have them done for you, to me you just as well off buying new, stick em in and go.

O see I'm going back to my 7.3 knowledge were you have injectors and injector tips aka nozzles or cups inside the hole where your injectors go and they fill up with fuel from what I remember and the bigger the nozzle the more fuel.

We dont't really have the option of bigger nozzles as in our case, the pump is the limit, not the injectors. If you have a decent fuel injector local, it might make more sense to get nozzles but get Genuine Bosch, no chinese crap or Bosch India, or find new injectors or rebuilt injectors from a good shop, IE Badger Diesel or Leroy.

Problem is where do you get German nozzles? They are not made by Bosch anymore. I'm working on another source though, ...

I have allot of good local shops that have good contacts I even have an injection shop not to far away.

I would like to find the cause of the knock before spending a couple hundred smackaroos.
I can tell it's an injector knock though it sounds just like my powerstroke did when the injector was bad and you can tell the one cylinder isn't firing and it can't be my gps I just did all of them.
Also I wanted to do all of them soon but this just gives me more reason to do all of them know.

I seen a few german companies that make nozzles but there not Bosch they are just made in Germany by a different manufacturer.

Know the real question is should I get marine injectors or just stock injectors. I have a exhaust and manual waste gate and that's about it. But when I do the injectors I will be cutting the intake webbing out and plugging the hole with a freeze plug.

DO NOT waste your money on Marine injectors, its total BS and all it does is empty your wallet and if you don't get the real ones, they go downhill very fast and your replacing them again.

Ok thanks lol because there's a diesel injector place and the marine ones were only a few more dollars then the stock ones.

You don't need the marine's If you had an "all out" built for power engine then maybe.

Well I wanted to build it up some but I guess standard performance is good.
What's the job time usually on the injectors and any hood install guides I was thinking about ordering them next week and tear the truck down the following Monday after work then finish it on Tuesday because I'm off.

Paul and I had injectors pulled and replaced in a couple hours. We swapped turbos and did the FTB mod as well so we were kinda all over the engine. You have to pull the turbo to do the pass side rear injectors. I think it also helps to pull the inner fender well on the pass side. I would give yourself 3-4 to have it all buttoned back up. Also, I highly recommend the push on kit, the retaining clips on the old lines were a PITA to get off.

The push on installation kit? Ehh the fender again that's a pita lol so is taking my down pipe off.

Some have managed to get them out without removing the turbo. Do the drivers side first, then get it running, then do the passenger side.
I'm guessing it's just like doing gasser injectors never did either or only did a fuel spider on a vortec motor.
