In which I document my experiences with Tread Wright

So last Friday I pulled the trigger on a set of Warden 265/75R16 tires from Tread Wright. I've been following several threads for the past 3 or 4 years and only read of one instance where there was an issue with a tire, of which Tread Wright followed through and took care of the customer. I currently have 4 different tires on my rig and one of them is about to the belt, so I needed tires.

I was quoted 10-15 business days for prep and 3-4 for shipping. I received a tracking number on Monday the tires were delivered today.

My only frustration was that I called them on Friday and requested that all casings be the same and was told by the sales rep that they would be. When I received them today, I have 2 Yokahama and 2 Firestone casings. I called their customer service and was told that if the account is notated, they try to accommodate. My account was not notated. Generally they will send out all of the same casing if they have a full set. If not, they will send out 2 and 2. If they don't have 2 and 2 they will wait to ship until they have at least that.

I was disappointed that they are not the same. I don't like running different tires, but at least the tread pattern is the same. I will post pictures up as soon as I pull out my SLR and take some.

I plan to use this thread to document my experiences. I will try to post pictures of the tires with each rotation to show wear of the tires. I will also see if I still have a depth gauge and post the results of an Inner, Middle and Outer measurement. I've read that people are getting great life out of these tires, so I expect nothing less.

Pics to follow.

I had nothing but a good experience with them. And strangely, I asked for a certain carcass brand which they annotated on my order and when they could not fulfill this they called me to see if another brand was acceptable before they shipped them. Great service. Getting great wear out of them as well. Warden 285/75/16s.

OK, here are the initial photos:

Sorry for the grain. I've got the ISO on my camera set really high, so it's added some noise to the images.

Both my BIL and Nephew (dieselkidd04) have had REAL good luck with the Treadwrights and said they would buy them next time.

I don't know what the deal is with the tread pattern, but I like the AT T/A's so that's why I went with it. I showed the pics to my buddy who hasn't heard of Tread Wright before. He laughed because he noticed the tread pattern first, then the differing casings. If it hadn't have been for that, he wouldn't have known they were retreads.

I just finished removing the camber tabs on the passenger side front. When I had it aligned at the beginning of June, they said that they couldn't get that side perfectly in alignment because of the tabs. It was off by like .02* or something like that. They also said that it was pulling to the right due to that tire being so worn down. I took them at their word. They said that if I removed the camber tabs they would only charge me half price to re-align it.

Well, a couple of days later I checked the tire pressure and the driver side was over inflated by 15 lbs. Not sure how that happened, but they clearly didn't check the tire pressure before aligning it because after I equalized the tire pressure, it tracked straight as can be down the road. Only problem is that the steering wheel is tilted about 15* to the left. I'm gonna take it tomorrow and tell them that they didn't align it properly the first time (the first step is alignment is ALWAYS check air pressure.) and that I am insisting that they re-align it free of charge since I didn't get what I paid for the first time. We'll see how that goes.

Wow, my brother just bought a set of 31'' guard dog m/t's for his chreokee. All on bfg a/t casings. I think the bfg style a/t is a good tire design. I may look into these eventually. Id also want the casings to be the same. I couldnt stand knowing they were different, just me.

Yeah, it's gonna bug me. Like I said, I wasn't pleased that the casings were different. When I called them on Friday, I specifically requested that they all be the same. Apparently it wasn't notated on my sales order.

Well, so far so good. Tires were mounted yesterday and this morning I got up bright and early to fishing. The drive is almost exactly 100 miles round trip, 34 of which is winding canyon. No off road. Tires handled beautifully.

My brother just got a screw in his brand new set of treadwrights. Plugged it last night so far so good.

So I've put about 500 miles on the tires so far. The first ... probably 300 or so miles ... they definitely felt stiff like new tires do. They've gotten more comfortable as I've driven on them. I don't notice any tire drone on the freeway, which is nice.
