my batteries dont seem to want to keep charged as of late. more than 24 hrs of not running the truck has a hard time of starting. no draws on them, so i am looking for new.

naturally i looked at optima and delco since we are a gm dealer. the optima has a 36 month no charge replacement, and nothing after that. the big batteries for delco have a 50 month no charge, and a pro rate for the next 30 months. totalling 7yrs. i get them for 120 each vs 149 for the optima reds.

thoughts? i have the originals in there now and plow so i need something good. they lasted 5 yrs i guess thats a good selling point for the delco. i have also read that the optima batteries have gotten cheap? not sure why nor never owned one to compare to.

Tough to disagree with the life you get out of the Delcos. Most everybody gets a good 5+ years out of them.

I had to delete my own post....something about a reference to something else being sore and not being able to beat something like a deal like that or something or the other:D. Hey, this is a family site EH?

For the way they hold up and the price that is a heck of a deal.

even better pricing to, i got then direct from our supply house for 86 bucks each.

I know people hate walmart but there bats last me a long time and are cheeper yet for the yellow ones

except for the famed passenger side leakers...most I know have had that issue...f's up your battery tray too...:mad2:

The rusty spot on the right side of my driveway would agree with you... twice! Not only does it mess up the tray, but also the firewall when the acid saturates the insulation, too.

As much as everyone despises walmart, that's what I did. 84 mo pro-rated with a 36 mo free replacement wty.

Here's what mine looked like when the pass side battery leaked for the 2nd time (dealer replaced it and the tray under warranty the 1st time).

I'm guessing it must be the heat from being near the turbo that does them in...but I've never seen one leak on the drivers side(knock on wood)

Just went out and looked. Damned if I don't have a little corrosion showing up:eek: Gonna have to remove that battery this weekend and clean it up after I dump some Coke in there to neutralize it...:mad2:

I'm Running Odyssey in my Truck now.

I've had nothing but problems with Optima's in the Past. Had Voltage Spikes.

Well sumbeach....
I found the pass. side batt was not even clamped in just bouncing around and I have a rust spot on the firewall where the vent is and some corrosion on the tray. I am going to pull it and clean and prime/paint everything and find some tubing to run the overflow down. Glad I read this.

I must have gotten a bad set of batteries. 37 mos. and mine are on the way out. Hard start in the morning and they died this weekend while camping after playing the radio for a little while.
I priced some Napa batteries today, same as OEM, $80 each. Think I'll pick them up in a couple of days.
