ignition switch?

Thanks I'll go after the connections again asap. Not to many that I haven't had apart. There are a few grounds that I didn't solder or replace yet. If they cleaned up fast I just copper coated or used dialectic grease and put them back together

So whatdaya think...Can it be?

The grounds were redone again sometime this summer. I did something to that Burb and while I was at it I did some ground checking. Not to say that it might not be needed. I always copper coat, never-seez or dialectic grease my connections.

This time since I can drive the vehicle. I am going to drive it as much as possible and if it does it again then I will start the chase in full again. This is supposed to be our daughters ride but she has had our 98 for quite some time now. Not that it really matters.

It runs stromg and feels good. It just the dang ole WTS ghost keeps coming back.

The difference being our Suburban has never failed to restart, so the fuse is not blown. I would actually welcome a blown fuse as I could find that.

Peviously I would immediately start checking stuff and I was usually in a mad rush to find something that I would hope was a fix. I usually did several things at a time hoping to find something definitive. After that the only thing to do would be wait and see if the ghost came back.

Usually I'd checked more than one plug and or ground but whatever I did or coincedence would let the Suburban run for a period of time with no issues.

This time I intend to do nothing for a period of time and see how random this issue is. If I do nothing and the ghost stays away for a reasonably long period of time, what will that tell me?

I installed new batteries last week.

Another related thread.

Did you check the PCM connector(s) (Unplug, then plug back in)......did you check where the grounds and harness go thru the firewall, for chaffed wires?

It's got to be at the grounds or enroute to the PCM, where they connect.......I think.

I know you're waiting for tim's input (I would be too), but just redo those grounds, (If you haven't done it already) and if it doesn't work, it'll be one less thing to cross off your list.

Dnag nabbit wrong head bolts for wife's TDI hopefully dealer will have a set and they won't cost arm & leg, but boss is starting to get unhappy :(.

We'll more background on friends truck possible fried PCM, seems a glitch a while back in 5th wheel camper batteries hooked up "backerds" & tried to send some trons the wrong way around, lengthy discussion with Mr. Bill who says PCMs don't like backerds trailer hookups. PCM removed and sent to Mr Bill since it was one of his reflashes that may be bad he'll check it for us so off USP Priority mail this afternoon, should know something Mon or Tue about the PCM.

Don't help this thread but thought I'd pop in quickly for update.

I haven't done that recently. Last time would have been when I installed the blower resistors a while back

It died again this morning. Time to give it the old twice over again.

Somebody reinforce what I think I know.

The PMD is not associated with the Wait to Start Ghost. Correct?

Today I'll be wishing my tool shed walls went to the ground - instead of 2' above - and that I had a heated floor - or a floor at all for that matter in my shed.

Somebody get a bath towel and get those tears off my cheecks. I've certainly gotten to be a sissy since I don't work in the elements every day anymore.

Hopefully may have found the issue for this go round. I found a bad ground and repaired it.

I then drove about 40 miles. No issues. But that's not a good enough test to tell anything.

I did notice a steady drip anti freeze leak when I got back.

Check your PM's Jeff........And the coolant leak is probably that Tranny dipstick stud, it holds the coolant block off plate.......and/or you may have to reseal or put a new gasket.
Check it out:

I started another thread on the leak. I looked lard yesterday and it didn't look like the block off plate.

The sensor at the back corner of the head, the one closest to the firewall and the coolant reservior was wet.

Coolant is dripping around the base of the starter but that tells nothing about where it is coming from. I'll get it up on a lift someplace next week where hopefully I can see better.

It probably won't make any difference on what I have to take apart to fix the problem but it sure does make life easier.
