Idler bolt spins

Mine is held on with a large torex bolt

Its not where its held on, its on the top of the unit, just a 3/8 square cut in for the ratchet head to fit. Remove your turbo muffler as mentinoed above and see if its there. It makes belt removal about 100x easier and safer.
 
I think GM made a change in the idlers when they changed the accessory layout. My 96 has the idler with the square hole in it and my 95 doesn't. On the 95 you have to put a wrench or the proper tool on the bolt that holds the pulley on the tensioner to remove tension.

I ripped that off and threw it on the ground, still cant get it. Nothing fits there but a torex. :nonod:

Got the one docdray sent me today (THANK YOU SIR!) and it has this. Both my 97 and 94 did not have that hole, very handy! :thumbsup:
