I have now deleted a wastegate. Welcome to the world of ATT

Pretty respectable, a little more advance in that tune and it will be real respectable.

I'm pretty sure I have the same tdc offset as you. Bill Heath installed the ecm and did the timing thing. egt's were 1075 or thereabouts with the vid. I took care to make sure I got the egt gauge in the video. I'll have to get my wife or a buddy to film the exhaust for a better view.

Leo, your Westers chip must be better than the "racing" one I got in the past because it wouldnt push the ATT to 18psi, would be lucky to get to 16psi. Now I let it go to 20+ psi, which I am not 100% sure becuase my gauge only goes to 15, pegged, but the PCM is showing me what it thinks from the boost sensor.

I've always backed off at 18 psi on wot runs

What's she usually run when you're towing? How heavy and what kind of grades?

I've a little bit reserved about not running a wastegate on my 21:1 engine.

With the vac system, I can program what I like in there and have the PCM monitor it for me.

I can watch a gauge myself, but 18 psi is waaay more than I would want to run on my tired old rings.

Right now my gm8 is maxed at 13.5 psi (where I set it) and I'm seldom ever there.

Sorry for a bit of a hijack Ed.....

Maybe the weight has something to do with it?

I would trade it for one of those multiple tunes:D

I don't tow often but when I do it's usually a 27-28k truck & trailer combined.

I usually see about 5 psi and 7-800 egt on the flats at 60-65 mph. headwinds or slopes will push it to 10 psi and 1050 egt's. One hill I checked with satellite imagery and was a 4% grade, I was in D with 10-12 psi and 1050 egt. at 55 mph. I didn't lose speed here, I had just turned onto this highway 3/4 miles earlier.

I watch the egt like a hawk while towing, I think I could keep the egt's in check with more throttle ie more boost, I too hate to push the old girl. I drive with a light foot.

Hey Ed, do you have pictures of that exhaust up here somewhere? Or someone else have pics of the Warpspeed going on their truck?
Thanks

Those are pretty respectable numbers.

I was also glued to the EGT gauge on my last tow. Everything else was good, just those bloody egt's on not much more than dips in the road.

1050 on a 4% grade at 10 psi with a weight of 27K at 55 mph is pretty good...better than what i get right now. I do believe my 300 000 km block could take that.

How long was that grade and did you loose any speed if it was a couple miles?

It was about a mile, it wasn't a consistent rise. I used Google Earth and used it's elevation changes to come up with the slope. rise/run

I didn't lose any speed and I was far from full fuel.

Finally got around to picking up some pipe to finish the job the way I wanted them to do it. Here's a couple pics. Total cost, 4 clamps 9.57 two hump hoses 31.29 3 inch length of stainless tubing FREEBIE. the ATT 009.jpgthe ATT 002.jpgthe ATT 001.jpg

Are you still going to be running the WI with the ATT?

Actually, how much of a drop in EGT's did you notice when you installed the DO kit?

Also, what size nozzles did you use?

I've got a kit in the garage waiting to go on.

I'm going with a single nozzle though....

I have the 5 and 10 gph nozzles hooked up. I am planning to continue using the w/m, I'll see if the present controller works any better with the ATT seeing as it is a boost activated controller. It is setup with a toggle right now so it is all or nothing for spray as I have the controller set for full on at 2lbs boost. If I don't see a change with removing the toggle switch I may just get an egt based controller and this will work http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190286130870&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

On the gm-8 turbo the results were it did knock the egt's down substantially. Didn't need w/m on flat stretches but get into the mountains and it was worth the money. It wouldn't necessarily drop the egt's but hold them in check when going up a hill, depending on the grade the egt's would stay about the same or rise a whole lot more slowly than if not using w/m. They say you don't need w/m or i/c with the ATT but since it is on the truck and ready to go I'm hoping I'll really get up hills quick. Ed
