I committed one of the seven deadly sins

UPDATE IT FIRST.

I'm not kidding, that could have been seriously dangerous. I believe it does have an egr disable option; I haven't played with it enough.

You'll need a serial-usb (DB9-USB) cable and a 12V ac adaptor to flash the update into the predator because chances are it won't come with them. Any Radio Shack will have what you need... bring it with you because there are about 500 different size tips available for the ac adaptor if you don't have one.

Here's the cable:

Thanks man! I'll show that to our eggheads at work before I buy it. I'm guessing they already have one or 2 around.

The preloaded tunes can keep clearing the codes when they pop up but for the LBZ, they do not have the capability to block the EGR codes.

Last time I checked anyways.

The unit should be a U7186. I did not have the problem Grady had when I got mine.....and I'm glad i didn't. Mike when you get it definitely update it as Grady did. I am pretty sure it can not turn off codes but it does read balance rates. The 85 Hp tune is what I run daily. The 120 tune I found to be very rattley for my likes. Just remember to let the tranny learn the tune before you lean into it. You will not be disappointed.......

Bill, the Predator reads and clears all kinds of codes. It just doesn't block any from recurring, such as EGR delete. Not sure what you meant or anything but I thought I'd clarify.

The bottom line is that you cant beat that thing for $300 brand new.

Got it today. Amazon has the U7777 interface kit with power supply and cable for $36.41 shipped free. Guess I can just order that.
Grady, did you unplug the 3 fuses they talked about in the manual and make sure the doors were closed when you programmed it? I see there was an update to the program just a few weeks ago but the last rev (r19) that affects my truck was 5/1/07. I'll check to see if that rev is in there before I send for the kit.
On edit: they give a bunch of radio shack info and P/Ns so I'll see what I can come up with at work first and buy what I need.

Fuses are just for good measure. FWIW, I've never done it for all of my different programmers. As it says, no matter what don't open or close doors or anything of that nature while programming.

Also, if you're gonna be In the Truck or wanna get Out and be able to Move while it's Programming, put the Windows Down BEFORE you Start as well.

Basically, do ANY and ALL Truck Functions BEFORE you Starting Loading or Reading Tunes.

I have also never pulled the fuses. I just make sure everything is off and there is no chance of the headlights coming on. I would advise having the windows down as the tunes don't load very fast.

No, I didn't pull any fuses. Make sure the climate control, dome light, headlights, radio, etc are all off and roll the windows down first.

Some of the gauges (fuel gauge and light on mine) and the recirc on the ac wil start moving while the programmer is doing its thing; this is normal also.

Yep. First time I ever flashed I was scared shitless. I thought sure something was going to go wrong the way lights flashed ans stayed illuminated..:D

Thanks for the warnings guys. Found a power supply I think is the right one here at work. Still working on locating a DB9-usb cable. Saw one for $10 online but we must have one here somewhere...

I think pulling the fuses was for the On-star, so it would not send a code or warning or something like that. I still pull the fuse for my Hypertech, just for shits and giggles. Good luck with the tuner Mike! And Grady. Enjoy the new power.

Loaded the 85 this morning. No issues. The revision was up to date all the way to LMMs. A couple of trips to town real easy like and a trip up to Sycamore 25 miles and on the way back I 'leaned' on it a bit. Ummmm yeah, it'll roll some coal won't it!
Definately a big difference even when just rolling along in cruise. The response is night and day. Just a little push on the go pedal is way different.
I'll be playin' a time or 2. Got my sights on one of those French's Mustard lookin' Dodge hemi "rumble bees" that a guy at work keeps telling me can kick my ass...:D

It's only down hill from here my friend. It's addictive. ):h

Passing without a trailer is something else...we just got back from a weekend out in the RV to a state park in the boonies. It was a great test for my wireless equipment.
Of course, my wife has to hit the local casinos...so we were out on the highway with no trailer. I pull out to pass and barely touch the loud pedal...wifey is going 'holy crap - you barely even touched it'...you don't know how hard it was to resist showing her what passing power it really DOES have...it'll hit 90 before you know it and keeps right on going...
