i was looking into swapping my turbo in my 1998 6.5 to a hx35. i was told that you would need a custom made downpipe. i have a diamond eye exhaust. couldnt i buy an hx35 and buy a diamond eye cummins downpipe and it go together normally? cause theres one for sale in my area i could go pick up

The cummins engine is completely different than a 6.5L. The cummins exhaust wont even get close to where you need it, with the work involved you might as well use the time to build the ~6" long adapter and be done with it.

Check my hx35 thread. there is a guy that has one and is selling it. Also, I got mine from racedaymechanic. contact him. I used it for my hx35 swap and it was so much easier. Will bolt right to your diamond eye downpipe.

Well, I don't know how to make it big. It's on the other site. Look for a guy called "94C1500". There's a link in his signature.

I have one of Bruce's (raceday mechanic) adapters that I didn't use that I will sale if anyone is interested. It's still in the box he shipped it to me in.

Hey Guys, I'm and still a noob in the diesel world (still so much to learn). I will fill in my truck info and profile when I get a chance. For now I have a question about the HX35. Is the oils supply line restricted at all or does it get the same flow capacity as the GM4. I know you guys are probably going to get a laugh out of this and maybe even wonder what the heck I thinking but I'm running a 1993 all mechanical 6.5. I can hear the snickers already, but that's what I've got at least for know. Thanks

I have the HX35, air to air and air to water inter coolers getting ready to put them on. Currently have a 4in down pipe that splits to dual 4 under the front passenger seat.

Sounds like a decent setup. And I run a 1993 with a mechanical pump and HX35 currently. It's a reliable setup. Less wires. Simple. Easy. Free

I recently did this conversion with a 14cm hx35 and I'm in love with the results. If you have a welder and some free time the adapter can be made in a couple hours. Or check with the for mentioned sellers. I mimicked my dp adapter after a users on another site. I purcharces a 3'' tight Mandrel bend U on line, along with the weldable V-bands. I used the stock exhaust housing that came on the back of the hx35, ground the v band edge off the back and used the protrusion from the rest of the V band to give a clean and large area to weld the DP adapter to. With several place-mark-cut repeat steps I have a nice sweeping DP adapter.

If you're talking about the opposite side from the oil feed inlet, that would be the location for the return adapter. I forgot to mention earlier the part I got from McMaster Carr works "with" the original fitting from the GM.

No you are going to reuse the GM oil return part that bolts to the bottom of the cartridge (center section of the turbo). The original GM oil supply line with the original GM supply line to turbo fitting, then connect to the mcmaster fitting. I would show some pics, but I'm doing mine in the morning.
