howdy folks!

Talked to him a few moments on Sunday, he was on a paddle boat with his kids, was supposed to call me when he got back to shore, but I never heard back from him, I'll try to give him a shout tomorrow.

I was thinking of him at an intersection when a d-max g-series cutaway bus drove by and I thought he needs that!

Definate loss here without him....Need to keep all the "Alumni" comming back (Hint, Hint...jd)

We still see JD (GMCTD) around once in a while, but I seem to recall that he told me that a lot of the hysteria from the old place coming apart (with all the stress involved) made him change his priorities as to how much time he spends with us. Correct me if I am 'mis-remembering'.

-Rob :)

I think this site was a bit shaky at first as everyone wasn't really sure about the move and where to go but I say now it's alot like the old site used to be and getting better every day. It's very well moderated by seasoned pro's not punks on a power trip or keyboard Rambo's as some other forums are. That makes alot of difference. This much In will say, there is NO other site on the net wigth the knowledge of the 6.5 that there is here period.

I talk to him now & again, since retiring he spends a lot of time doing other stuff, doesn't spend much time on any forums these days. 6.5 is kind of old news for him so unless something new comes along he tends to sit it out more than participate. He's only a phone call away if you'll PM me with the question I can have him come around and offer up an answer.

I just got the email in my box that this thread has come back to life.... howdy folks! Thought of you all often.... I just don't get a whole lot of time in front of the computer except for research, work, and a quick check of facebook... Hope to come back around...

I think of you everytime I stroll past the bus.

I just talked to Tim today... I was telling him about my sticker shock of the price of a DIY oil change on a PowerStroke.... A 6.5 was much more economical! 15 quarts!

Yea my 94.5 (1st Powerstroke) takes anywhwere 13 1/2 to 14 1/2......

He's only a phone call away

That's a good "Number" to have, Besisdes we got you full time anyway! :smile5:

I can have him come around and offer up an answer.

Just shine the Bat light and he appears....for special technical situations and such :rolleyes5:):h

I know some of the trucks took 20 quarts to do an oil change on, so still consider yourself lucky. My DMAX uses the same filter I was using on my 6.5 and only takes an extra 2 quarts so no big deal.

And it does seem odd not having the busdriver at the wheel on a daily basis. And the newbies over on the other place with a power trip get REALLY annoying, espescially now that he decided to start policing the rest of the site. I barely kept my cool the other day when he blew up because he moved a post and I posted that where it was put wouldn't get it much attention from those with knowledge in that area. I refuse to post my conversion over there because of several problems I've had with him.

X2, DTR came right on time.......They're like little Diesel Nazi's!

7.3 took 20 qts?.........Jeez!

Was that the early ones, the IDI or the Powerstroke's?

It was a late model 7.3L in one of the SUPER DUTY's. I remember the oil change guy putting 16 in and it wasn't even touching the stick yet. Don't know if it was stock or not though, just remember it took ALOT of oil.

Pstrokes hold 18 quarts of oil so when the rear main seal goes, you can still drive around while you're saving your pennies to pull the engine or cab to fix it....

When talking 18 quarts, the entire topic of Synthitic cost is a huge factor... Image buying a 13 dollar filter, and 18 quarts at 6.50 a quart? LOL... Lookin at 130dollar oiil change.... Still not too bad I guess... have to extend the intervals for sure.....

Don't think you need to pull the cab on a 7.3 Only the 6.0 and 6.4 but I won't swear to that. Water pumps are easy though. easiest diesel WP I ever did a few weeks ago on Mom's PS.

Could be worse.

Think what "ChevyLover" has to put up with over in the Fatherland.
Here's a shot of one liter at the local Esso station several years ago. Trust me, it hasn't gotten any better of late. Check out the price and then multiply by $1.45 to get the final answer.

If you don't have a calculator, you'll need to take your shoes off...I did.):h
