How to Replace Your Belt Tensioner
Tools Needed
½” breaker bar
14mm Socket
How to do it
1. Start by removing the serpentine belt from the tensioner. To do this insert the ½” breaker bar into the hole on the tensioner and then rotate the tensioner to relieve the tension. It may be easiest to slip the belt off of the alternator and then release the tensioner so that you can wrestle the belt off of the tensioner without having to hold the breaker bar.
2. Now using the 14mm socket, remove the bolt that holds the tensioner to the accessory bracket.
3. Now install the new tensioner by aligning the tab on it with the hole in the accessory bracket, then install the bolt and torque to 30lb-ft/41N-m
4. Re-install the serpentine belt and your good to go.
