How many #s can I tow.

Oooo ooooo oooo, please tell everyone how the roof was damaged. As a public service or just so (since its now fixed by insurance) we can all have a laugh about it later thinking about it while drinking a beer

I feel for you. I have been on the fence as well. I want to move up to a 5th wheel with a slide but the one I have is paid for and times aint gettin better anytime soon.

Now Now tom. Be nice, this nightmare is finally over,I HOPE. We have a big storm coming through right now and I hope the dicor has set up enough not to wash off in the rain. If I must tell the story I will. Take a vote on it and see how many yes's we get. I'm embarressed enough as it is.

Okay!!! So I left one of the side windows open and the vacumn created by the open window somehow blew the skylight out in the bathroom. It didn't seperate from the roofing membrane though. I was going 75/80 down the hgwy. and the skylight kept tearing the menbrane until I saw it in the side view mirror slamming the side of my camper. I figured atleast one good samaritan would've blew their horn to let me know but I guess that's to much to ask in this day and age. Any way now I make sure all the windows are closed and vents shut before I leave the house. There Tom I hope you're happy!!!

Any side winds that day?

I imagine there is no way you could positively pressurize the inside enough to blow it out, there really isnt that much pressure even on the front of your truck, but pull in on it enough with vacuum like Rob said and probably broke it then it was able to flap around in the wind.

That venturi affect at is worst!

Highway speed and a wind gust?

Yeah, she'll blow....especially if the plastic was already old or cracked....

Only other way it would happen would be high wind speed over the vent creating low pressure zone and (comparatively) high pressure in side the trailer...

I think it would have been high pressure on outside and low pressure on inside to create the greatest force on the roof.

Anyway, lesson learned, everyone check your windows before pulling out of camp.

That DICOR is some tough stuff, and sets up pretty quick. It's the same stuff I coat my roof with. I put it on last time and about 2 hours later it rained, not one bit of it washed off.

):h Don't feel bad. I have blown the roof off of several new RV's hauling them commercially and my cargo trailer twice. No window(s) to blame. The cargo trailer is still under and fixed by warranty. Not many get 100K miles a year I guess. The front curve is just a weak point on cargo trailers with strong winds...

Delivering one to the dealer was: "You ordered the starlight kit, right?"

make sure your doors are latched as well. older RV couple passed us a while back, we saw the door jiggling, luckily the wind held it semi- shut, but it was still jiggling around pretty bad. so we secured stuff in the cab of the semi, roll down the window, go for the pass, I , belted in, open my door at road speed, swing it out so it is obvious, slammed it, and then pointed at their trailer. they got the message loud and clear, hit the shoulder and brakes quite quickly.

dont feel bad about it, plenty of folks forget stuff is open quite often. we have left cargo boxes open every once in a while. luckily havent lost anything...yet.

good info, I often open windows on purpose to help air out the camper on trips. never occurred to me it might damage anything.
