How many Suburban owners get asked if it is for sale?

Add some redneck here to make it more interesting!

First time was a note on the windshield and then a drive by of the same person - a physic no less. No not for sale, and redneck here: the engine was out of it at the time.

Second time was today when the lift pump was bad and the hood up. :skep: The number quoted (What I have in it.) killed any interest...

A guy came to buy one of my oil trucks and was trying to get me to sell the burb. I'd say the was it factory diesel question was asked even more with my 2 door Tahoe. Why doesn't GM make cool shit lie that anymore ?? Environazi's ...That is why.

Seem the gas station is a popular place to get asked if I am selling it. I even had a few let me know I was putting diesel in it! I might sell it one day if the price is right!

I don't get asked often, but that's how I bought mine - I saw it parked on a street, saw some guys working nearby and went and asked if by any chance it was for sale. It was

By the way, the reason GM discontinued Diesel 'burbs after '99 was because fitting the Duramax in the new body would have required a 2" body lift, and that was deemed unacceptable by the soccer moms focus groups GM asked. So no "environazis" there. Besides, if the decision had been based on environmental considerations, the gassers would have been the first ones to go :)

Not only do I get asked if I would sell it, They ask if it was in an accident because it has the 1500 on the door guards and they count the 8 lugs and say they only came on 2500 and 3500 trucks.

They also want it more when I tell them I get 18/22 mpg. with this big pig that does/fits everything. LONG LIVE THE DIESEL BURBS!!!

I get the same questions with my 95 1/2ton diesel. I get asked "is that factory?" "Who did you have convert your 350" "how many engines has it gone through" "why don't you put a cummins in it" and have only had one person ask to buy it but this ones not for sale no matter how bad of shape its in.

I literally about got in a fist fight with a guy when we argued for 30 minutes over whether it was a converted 350 and he kept telling me it was worthless.

Ignorance has a way of finding the 6.5TD. I was clueless when I bought mine, not ignorant.

With all the help I got here since I bought it, It's better now than when the factory sold it.

Thanks for all the help and knowledge that has been bestowed upon me by all the great people here.

id trade my dually for a 3500 burb, but i think i want a TBI 454 next

I want one in the worst way, I'm not allowed to buy till Sept of 12. I have my 94 eclb,, but 2 little ones a wife and 2 dog's can't go far in that with out a fight. A LBZ crewcab short box is what I really want. But i think it best for me to find a OBD1 1500burb to fill my needs,, I can do all the work. cheaper, that a Dmax,,, I don't own anything to tow, that a d max is needed, I'd like the newer cab and stuff,, but a Burb will fit me needs better, and get better mileage. Then I can sell the minivan we Vacation in,, and get the wife a daily driver that does better than the 24MPG. For less that $10,000 I can find 7-10 diff ones on Craigslist,, that would fit my bill, and leave me cash for mods, and reliability things.

You also want the 8/10 mpg. that goes with it ?

I dont drive that much anymore, so that dosnt bother me. I just did the math today and I have spent over 4 grand on IP's in 6 years on 3 6.5s, plus injectors, PMDs ect, so yes, I miss my old 454 throttle body's alot! Even if ya snap a crank in a BB, you can find a new motor for a few hundred bucks, Me and my dad share a 2002 8.1 gasser dually and it gets 11mpgs loaded or empty, my 6.5 only gets 12 loaded and 16 empty. I like my 6.5s but I like to be turn key and go and not have to put tons of time and money into a truck to make be horse haulin' ready, the old 454's where turn key and go, never needed IP's or glow plugs or fan clutch mods ect. Im just getting lazy I guess :D

Very, very true. That's why i've kept my 454 tbi truck, turn the key after sitting for weeks and it fires and runs like a champ. I've pulled trailers that are way past what it should be able to handle, and I don't have to worry about it overheating. 8mpg does suck though...

Most common question I get out of my 1500 is "Did I put that diesel in it"? I had to argue with a guy at oreilly's auto for like 2 minutes one time because he swore GM never put a diesel in a half ton and I was lieing to him...

If you figure in that gas on average has been 20 cents a gallon cheaper it's about the same..

I got ask everytime they found out that it is a diesel.

It does not have any sticker that it is a diesel but people are looking funny at us "asian" driving a diesel suburban in TX.

There are very few 6.5 diesels here in CNY. Many peoples reaction is, "thats a diesel"? Then the next comment is "oh yeah, is a diesel gasser block, they are junk".

I was asked a couple times at the fuel station if i knew I was putting diesel in my truck. Both my suburban and my 1500 got more questions than any other vehicle I have owned. I do however enjoy explaining to people that yes, gm made 1/2 ton diesel trucks, suburbans, and tahoes. And no they are not "converted" 350 gas engines. Soon as gm decides to make another 1500 diesel I can get rid of my car and LBZ....but thats another rant

I got the same thing yesterday. My suburban was sitting in front of the diesel pump while I swiped my debit card and I heard "hey, you know that's a diesel pump right?" Yea....thanks for the help lol.
