Horn honking when cold out.

This is more of a curiousity thing than a problem. Does anyone elses horn pad shrink in the cold and set the horn off? Its been doing this for years, but this is first winter in a while the truck has been in my driving pool. It got down to 12 last night because that is magic # for horn pad. I woke me up around 3 and I started laughing while putting shoes on to go pull fuse. The fuse blew before I got down stairs. So, Am I the only one with this issue?

Is this on your '97? I haven't had this problem on anything. Sounds like your horn switch has a hair trigger normally.. Any parts yards locally? Or maybe get on eBay.

Or.. Time for a heated garage..

Yep, the 97. Will go on ebay and get new horn pad. I'm sick of pulling fuses and heated garage not option. Still a little strange I'm only one with this issue though.

Has an 87 S-15 that would do the same. Burned the horn relay up. Would also stick on after use.

I'm sure the neighbors wanted to give it some attention. When this was my NJ work truck I had a neighbor dispute and would install a good fuse on cold nights.

I also had this happen on my '95 a few years back. 200k of wear on the steering wheel could have looked better so didn't want to spend any $ for the new horn pad. Instead swapped in a Grant Signature aftermarket wheel.

yup, about 2 or 3 of them have done it here. no solution other than to try to pry the plates apart. come to think of it, I think that solved it.
