HOLSET HX40W, non-gated HX40 & Super HX40?

Ok, today everything is here and I have just finished a 2k deg f silicone finish on the turbine housing and have everything set to properly clock on 6.5td.

Raceday's kit is a BIG help!

Measured compressor wheel 81mm x 64 mm, the turbine wheel is 75 mm x 64 mm somewhat larger than advertised anyway excited but going slow so I do it once.

Gotta love the CKO's. They don't seem to have a clue what the actual specs are for them. Shouldn't your compressor have been 60x86 for the HX40. My HX40WII was the same way, but I sure can't knock the way it performs. Can't wait to see how yours performs.

Well, the KO is in and I had to pull the CAC as I could no longer get past the area now taken up by the huge compressor removing that bad boy took some time.

Idled the 6.5 for 30+ minutes checked for leaks and went for a short ride spools just fine for me took it to WOT a few times EGT 900 @ 15 PSI steady.

Thats fantastic news, but how does it feel?! Actually, after I initially did mine, it felt great in the mid range, but ran out of steam at about 2800 rpm's, until I turned up my fuel, to match the new found boost. Then it was like I was driving a completely different truck. All I could say was WOW!
Look forward to more reports, and maybe some pics!:D

Well, from a stop low end boosts right away to initially is 5+ lbs then drops however there is no loss of power one would expect by this change from the GM8 to the HX40w w/its big wheels there is a difference with the HX40 I'll have to get used to. The GM8 would boost to 10 lbs from a stop start and stay there for a bit.

Midrange and upper rpm's just pulls hard real hard with the foot in it and no wall at 2.8k however this is just the start I'll be data logging and filming as I put it through it's tasks of the day.

Ram Cummins CAC and radiator which I have already are next the CAC that I pulled had both in/out on the same side as turbo taking up valuable space the cummins setup will fix that with Pensulars intake cap.

1,100 rpm constant state driving 1 psi boost, at 45 mph 2.5 psi boost, at 55 3.5 psi boost and 65 mph 2,100 rpm's 4.5 psi boost, 179 deg f coolant, 540 deg f EGT, 126 IAT all over flat roadways. The exhaust sound has changed to a lower growl like a BB gasser.

I have hammered it a few more times crazy fast performance this is perhaps the best upgrade hands down.

Wow, never would have thought that it would spool that fast.

I'll happy as a pig in _____ however truth be told I have no idea what the trim actually is and the part number crossed over as a replacement to many applications from the cummins 12 valve, ford idi 6.9/7.3 up to the 8h cummins and the super 40. The wheels don't match anything that I could find from Holset.

Another interesting thing is that I had removed the silencer ring and there is no whistle

Another consideration is when using a CAC/IC there is an pressure drop across it of an average 2 psi so this low rpm boost would not seen unless monitored via 2 boost gauges or dual gauge monitoring pre/post CAC/IC.

That's odd there's no whistle, I had the hx40wII and that thing whistled like no tomorrow with and withouth the silenser ring. You could clearly hear at the tail pipe while motor idles

I hear it ever so slighly I suspect the S&B intake runner I modified to fit maybe the culprit in that it goes fro 4" to 3" and I have a 3" to 4" adapter at the compressor. I've ordered parts to do the full 4" from the S&B to the compressor should have it in by mid-week.

For the record the 18cm 2 turbine on this CKO makes driving more a pleasure around town and on the highway and if I just tap it a little it just goes none of that lag or late spooling I hear everyone talk of.

The exhaust tone has changed to a deeper note and the Burb sounds like a different vehicle all together.
