HO Water Pump with single thermostat crossover?

If you have the dual thermo crossover, Heath has a restrictor, which I used, for the bypass to the waterpump. You take off the old bypass nipple on the water pump and replace it with their nipple that is designed as a restrictor.

I did the HO, balanced flow pump, Heath's low temp fan clutch and restrictor nipple, along with the plastic DMax fan and am very satisfied with the results. I recently towed a 25ft travel trailer over Santiam Pass. The temps never went over 210* (it was cooler weather, not summer temps though). The clincher was the climb going west from Suttle Lake, a 2300ft + elevation gain in about 6 miles. I was able to keep up with traffic speed at anywhere from 45 to 55 MPH while climbing.

I thought I heard or read something about a restrictor....(I think it was in a post from Tim)...But if Heaths "R & D" numbers are accurate, sounds like the single T Stat is the way to go if you have one already.....I wonder if Bill did any balanced GPM "R & D" with the dual T and the restrictor, just to compare numbers....It's probably easier and cheaper to find a single T Stat setup, than a dual.....Gives new meaning to the old' "Bigger is Better" saying, eh?

Single t-stat systems close the 'radiator bypass' with the thermostat. Dual T-stats do not have a valve to close this bypass and Heath offers a restrictor nipple to overcome this design compromise from the factory. So there is an advantage to single t-stat - not saying it is good or bad advantage...

If you already have the dual thermo crossover I don't feel there is a need for a change as the restrictor is working fine for me. But, if you are needing to replace a damaged crossover, then it is worth looking for the single thermo crossover.
