Let me start the interest in this setup. Is there a kit? Cost?
I would like to know how AC pressure is handled by this system as I need more fan for AC when the engine is relatively stone cold. I am curious as to others overall results.
It's clear the 'delays' in the Obsolete Spring thermal fan clutch locking in let the ECT get over 210 when working hard risking cracking and ruining rings in these IDI diesels.
So far popping the thermostat early with a 180 setpoint and a Kennedy Diesel low temp fan clutch and better duramax fan with a clean stack is as good as it gets. And that's razor's edge barley enough to keep you at or below 210 ECT.
The AC suffers when it's 120 degrees out, the fan is kicked out, and the engine is cold. Max AC load and the heat gets lost in the engine radiator thus the clutch fan spring doesn't get hot and kick in. I have blown AC seals and vented the system a few times with a hot engine on startup and fan is kicked out.
