I've done a bit of reading on the HID's and really didn't pay a lot of attention to it. I wasn't really interested in dicking around with ballasts and such until I did some more reading. Unit and Mad Maxx got me thinking, which created an itch that just had to be scratched. Long story short, I paid a visit to Retro Solutions, which is about 30 minutes away from me and bought a 55W 4300K low beam setup. All I can say is WOW.

Great kit, plug and play, and super bright. Like many of you have said earlier, I should have done it a loooooong time ago. Great quality kit, super easy install, and looks great at night. No flicker problems and my Fisher plow setup works fine. Lifetime warranty to boot and a really good kid to deal with.

Yea I recently just did mine also and was wondering what took me so long. Glad you like em as I love mine too. Now when people piss you off just go and get right up on em and see how they like that :D

are they legal? i dont need to be pulled over for dam headlights and get written up for the rest of the truck:D.

Actually no, they aren't legal, but chances are you aren't going to get pulled over for them unless they are out of alignment and blinding everyone, or are some stupid high Kelvin color that will attract attention to your Truck.

Just get 'em, throw 'em in, and be done with it.

can you post a pic of the 4300's and fogs on. i had 6000's and they made the fogs look like garbage so i did all 3 and ended up not liking having all 3 so went back to stock. if the 4300's look better i might get another set :D

Too much Color for you with the 6k's?

4300k's are straight White. No Color at all, just White and bright as hell.

Mine are 4300's in pure white. What do you want to see?

Here's a couple. The first one is fogs only. They put out an unbelievable amount of light.

looking to see 4300's with 9005 fogs is what i'm thinking might look ok. might even go with 35w because the 55w were so friggen bright. i just want the colors to be as close as possible

Yea Im hoping my 880 fogs dont look gay or burn up the reflectors. Find out Monday. These fogs are so small its crazy. You guys got them big'uns :D

I've heard that the older body style trucks do tend to burn up the stock fog lenses. Too much heat I guess. Also, I'm running 9145's or H10's in my fogs. I bought these before the 55w HID's came out.

I found that if you are having trouble with a 9005 fitting too tight in the OEM Fog, it's because the Rubber Gasket Ring is too tuff. Carefully pop the one off the OEM 9145, it's ALOT softer, and the 9005 will slide right in like a 9145.

I was going to do the 5000K but Todd at Retro told me to try the 4300K. I'm glad I did. After driving around with them for a few days, I can't see how I did without them. It seems people don't mind either as I haven't gottened "flashed" once.

At first I thought what kind of light is that on your truck in the second pic, then relized it was a pole light ... Those HID's are great looking and I am ordering a set next week. 4300's.
I have 1 question, if you use them for the high beams as well, it is prob better to do the all headlight mod?

It really dosent matter. I did the all on mod as have many people here. The amount of light they all put out is ridiculous.

The reason I asked was because if and when it goes from low beam to high beam is there a delay with the flickering of them going on and off. I didnt want to be a strobe light going down the street.

There is no delay in turning them on. You will get a real quick flash when turning the high beams off at your fog lights. Assuming you're using the all on mod. Not completely sure why this happens but for an instant, it cuts power to the fogs. I wouldnt worry too much about it. It isnt real good for the bulbs or ballasts so when I run my highs, I hit the fog button on the dash, turning them off. They stay on but as soon as I turn off the high beams, the fogs wont relight until I hit the button again. This should save some kind of wear and tear on the bulbs or ballasts.

Have not had any problems I have not even disabled the auto headlights

Disabling the auto lights is the best thing I've done yet....After getting a divorce that is...

How do they work with your stock GMC housings? I've heard that the HIDs don't work as well with the GMC housings, that's really the only reason I don't have them yet.
