Ok, I just had a thought.

Since HID's are starting to take off with everyone, I figured I'd get this Started to open People's Eyes as to the CORRECT ways to Install HID's.

I have been Installing them for over 5 Years now, and have had only 2 Failures in those 5 Years. Every Set I Install gets a Relay Harness. No if's / and's / or but's.

So let's Hear how you have yours Hooked Up and if you've had any Problems. It's a Multiple Vote Poll, so please Check all that Apply.

I just lost a ballast w/o using a harness and voted accordingly. Back to stock until I get around to getting the harness.

I have had HIDS installed in the low/high and fog lights for about 3and half years and have not had any problem . Im not using any wire harness's , the factory wire pluged right into the ballasts .

How about a DIY write up on this relay harness?

Go to Ebay, Search whatever Bulb Size you need, followed by Xenon or HID Harness.

Example: 9006 hid Harness.

That's funny. I do service work at staples and sometimes when they describe the problem to me, I ask them if they've tried hitting the easy button.

I've thought numerous times about HID's, but have been waiting for the bugs to be worked out and the pricing to become reasonable.

I'm curious what the issue is that a guy needs a harness? I assume it's because the OE wiring is too small? I run my lights on a harness that we've used for years to get plenty of current to the OE lights, plus it keeps the low beams lit when on high if desired.

Amperage Spikes at turn on. For the few Seconds, EACH Ballast can pull in excess of 20a.

Plus, running a Harness GREATLY reduces the Warm Up Time for the Bulbs.

And it's just better for the Ballasts to get their Power directly from the Battery, rather than go through all the OEM Wiring and experience Voltage Loss.

Hell, even if you put a Harness on the OEM Bulbs, they'll be Brighter because again, they're getting Power directly from the Battery.

That's why we do it. I don't go to the battery though, I go right to the source to avoid corrosion potential etc. So many cheap out and diode out the relay to get all 4, but are leaving tons on the table...

I've been tempted to try HID's myself. Seems that they have really come down in price. I wanted them on my 2002 as the housings/lenses suck compared to the 2003+ but now my 2002 doesn't see much road duty so it's not such an issue.
