Hi Guys, just joined up having recently aquired a 1996 K2500, learning a lot. So far solved a vacuum issue with the wastegate system thanks to this great site. I have been running American motors for a lot of years but this is my 1st diesel ( I always avoided them if possible). Still have a 1990 G20 dayvan and with fuel prices over here running at around $10.25 a gallon I am having to watch my mileage, but once you get used to a V8 there's no going back !!

yep, imperial gallon, most of our prices are government taxes,

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...British-motorists-pay-60-duty-VAT-petrol.html ( prices quoted are for a litre ....as we are now part of the Eurozone ! )

thanks for the welcomes. I have lots of plans for the truck as I intend to keep her long term, most mods will be for longevity rather than performance because the old girl outperforms pretty much anything we have over here in standard form. She is in great condition for her age and only has 93,000 miles on her .

Greetings Steve. The Truck Stop is the, dare I say, world authority on the 6.5 Detroit diesel. Lots of stuff posted. If you can't find it just ask.

Thanks, I am sure there will be questions, I am just waiting for the registration documents so I can get it taxed for the road, it'll be about 10 days because the dealer didn't have the stuff from the previous owner. While waiting I will be doing general service stuff and checking suspension, brakes etc.

Pics as requested

Looks to be in nice condition, back bumper and trailer hitch look different than what we have.

Yeah, bumper houses UK spec rear lights and tow hitch looks to be adapted from something else but done well ( Euro spec hitch )

I have done a bit of tidying up, took out all the interior seats/ carpet/ trim panels to clean off all the mud and grime, it has come up very well, the paint needs a polish but is very tidy and I have painted the tow hitch and added an exhaust trim. Need some 5inch centre caps as mine are rusty and the outside drivers door handle is broken as is the inside one ( temporary fix by previous owner) also need interior light but other than that is is all pretty good, especially for a 1996 truck. I will be putting on a coat of waxoyl rustproofer underneath as there is still all the paint on the chassis etc. and the underneath body paint is also very good. I have a feeling it came from a dry State as it is so good underneath.
