I wanted to get your opinion and some help if you can on a build of my 6.2. I run it in my CUCV 1009 with 38" tires and 4:56 gears. 400 Turbo transmssion. I wanted to buy a Genuine Holset HX35/40 Hybrid with a quick spool turbine wheel. Can you give me your opinion of this set up please?

If the engine is out I would get bigger precups from a 6.5 turbo engine to help with power and smoke. More fuel that the turbo can use winds up hitting a limit of the small 6.2 precups. 6.5 NA precups is as small as you want to go.

From large to small: 6.5 turbo 1995 sitting on the heads, 6.5 NA right side, and 6.2 military left side precups below.

WarWagon,

Would the military j-code precups not be Ok if one was only using a turbo for enough power to help negotiate traffic better.

Ive got a military takeout NA 6.5 in my 3500 with 4911 pump and gm8 turbo and i have no smoking problems. The engine runs excellant and has plenty of power. I recently hauled a load of junk and was weighing 13500 pounds combined and it pulled it without a problem in the world. NA 6.5 precups would do you fine if you have some.
