Heavy oil use? 2QT in 1K

the kind of oil consumption he may be getting into the intake would cause smoke.

How much oil is in the truck, thats the first place to start, drain it and see how much comes out. Then fill the oil filter, and put 6 quarts in it, see what dipstick reads.

It actually runs great and passes the blowby test. I put in a new cdr and no diff. The only thing that has made an appreciable diff was when I rebuilt my turbo and then it was short lived. I suspect my turbo shaft is worn without being scored and won't seal properly. My new air filter did help a little too. I'm not talking about replacing the filter I just put on a new to me k47 setup.

You should try my CDR/brether setup, probably lose a lot less oil ;)

Although OP is losing twice as much oil, and smoking has more to do with how much at a given time, whereas over 5k could be light use most of the time.

Well if youre looking at an air flow perspective with new turbo and air filter affecting it that would be all about vacuum in the intake elbow where the CDR connects. less restriction less vacuum

Another odd ball thing to check.... make sure the turbo drain tube is not plugged. You said the rebuilt turbo used less oil for a while but know back to the way it was. You're could be the shaft but if the drain is not open it will blow out the seal.

As for the valve seals leaking that much oil IDK for sure the one I did had other problems too........ but if you get a puff of "oil" smoke on start up that is a good indication of valve seals. The one I did were easy to see the were orange and they where about half way up the valve spring.

Just look over everything, this was my large oil usage

Just make sure its not leaking from somewere.

Well I'll probably leave it be for now. I'm waiting for something semi major to happen with 221k on it. When it does I'm thinking of pulling the engine and freshening it up assuming there are no cracks.
