Having several issues

throw some of that prestone flush fluid in there and run it up to temp,, then do a complete drain, flush and refill with a 50/50 mix and a bottle of Water Wetter. Maybe even get a few gallons of distilled water, to mix with. Spend the money and get AC delco t-stat. 195 unit also. If that don't fix it, then I guess a grenade is in order!

Hey man,, What part of Michganistan are you in anyway,, I'm in the woods in between Lansing and Gr Rapids!

Yeah, the AC delco would be the only one I'd used for a single stat crossover. AC Delco or Robert Shaw for double thermostats.

Generic parts store thermostats will fit but don't work well with the 6.5 system design. I don't think the single stat it closes the bypass loop and for the double stat system you want a high flow stat like stock or Robert Shaw.

Rust will be brownish. If the dexcool gets contaminated by air or minerals I have read it dulls and clouds some. If its leaking it will leave a pink residue. If its mixed with ethelyne sp? glycol it makes a sludge (not sure of color).

I'd flush it and refill with new stat. Ask the shop that did the work for more details and if they put in a product that is more red colored. I think I have read Zerex is more red than Texaco or Prestone Dexcool which is more orangeish.

I like to refill with distilled water and antifreeze.

its got heat now, ran it for 10 or 15 min in the driveway..... it got to 190* and had some good heat. I use a robert shaw T-stat..... I will go with out and get a winter grill cover before I give GM $35 for a T-stat.

this actually pisses me off ..... I paid $100 for a cooling system flush and to have it burped/bled........... there was not hardly any anti-freeze in it.... makes me wonder if he actually changed my oil.....

I live in Berrien Springs ......... 10 miles south of Benton Harboron the 31 by-pass.

what is the reason for only using an AC Delco Thermostat? I went to the chevy dealer and they wanted $30 for it plus it had to be ordered. Autozone has the Duralast gold T-stat for 12.99 and has it in stock... what is the reason I can't use it

Delco thermostats are a special pressure balanced version that the 6.5 cooling system requires to allow proper coolant flow. I can't stress using only Delco enough. They are worth the extra money.
