i have a 94 gmc 6.5 td. it says 2500 .and the VIN says its a 2500 as well but it has 6 lug half ton axles. is this a factory truck or what?

well if they did do that i dont think they made very much because thus is the first time im seeing it

ok good im glad im not the only one with a wimpy 3/4 ton

Don't worry about it breaking. I have a half ton truck with the 8.25 10bolt and a 4cyl cummins in it. I towed and beat that thing and it is still going. Once made 496hp on the wheels. Truck has over 300,000 miles. I don't think you have much to worry about with the 14bolt 6lug!

Look at your GVW rating. If it's 8600 GVW it will have the 8 bolt wheel stud pattern. If it's less than 8600 (7200 I think) it will be the 6 bolt pattern.

Don

Mine is a 95 3/4 ton with 6 lug axels. There's a few around here where I am. Kinda messed the guys up at the 4 wheel shop ordering my lift

On another note, I've seen K1500 Suburbans for sale around here that have 8 lug axles/wheels. Almost every one, if not every single one.

Sounds like you got the 14 bolt semi floater it's used in the light duty 3/4 gvrw of 7200

What transmission do you run with that?

As far as the GMT 400 pickups, this is how I have it figured:

C1500: 5 lug 15"
K1500: 6 lug, 16 inch

C2500 (LD) 6 lug, 16 inch
K2500 (LD) 6 lug, 16 inch

C2500 (HD) 8 lug, 16 inch
K2500 (HD) 8 lug, 16 inch

as far as the burbs go, I believe all diesel GMT400 burbs are 8 lug.
