Hey guys going to north east Ga to pick my new Suburban up.. now here is the catch its a 1999 c1500 8 lug 14 bolt rear 6.5 4l80e lether heated seats 3rd row it has 116,000 miles I stoped by and checked it out yesterday let me know what I forgot to check...:mad2:

The inside is spotless the outside is super clean underside is clean as in no oil leaks no trans oil no rear alxe seals leaking everything looks great.. They left it dead cold for me to crank hit it without waiting on glow pulgs sounds strong no dead holes waited on the GP and it fired off a little bule smoke cleared up very quickly def needs GP's warmed it up checked blowby at the oil filler cap and the CDR tube none compared to my 6.5 checked coolant tank and upper hose as it warmed up.... Drove it around got it up to operating temp checked trans shifted well A/C works front and rear all the little things lights turn siginals and so on worked.. This is the orginal owner of the truck he even has the window sticker still in the truck.. I took a couple photos..

X2 save a 6.5 from the bone yard :) especially the Burb those are getting harder to find

Get you a vac/pressure tester and plumb into the filter mgr drain see here http://www.thetruckstop.us/forum/sh...t-Pumps-amp-OPS-operation-and-troubleshooting & check the lift pump this thread from MGW has some good info http://www.thetruckstop.us/forum/sh...ntial-Addition-To-Your-Stable-of-Diesel-Rides same vac/press gauge can be used to test the turbo WG control system Kevin's post in the TRL is a good place to start with understanding the turbo system http://www.thetruckstop.us/forum/showthread.php?2648-Reference-Material-Turbo-Wastegate-System

TRL has a LOT of been there done that info http://www.thetruckstop.us/forum/forumdisplay.php?218-6-2-and-6-5-Technical-Reference-Library

RPOs (what it came with options wise found in the glove box ) can be identified here http://www.thetruckstop.us/forum/showthread.php?36323-RPO-Codes&p=417507#post417507

9.5 semi floater... IE the 1500 part the strange thing is doesnt have an egr valve and is a F engine code..

Thanks Turbine Doc i will check out those links all ready got the fuel/vacume/pressure gauge in the tool box spare pmd, lp, fuel filter, and many other goodies

Looks great! Check the RPO codes in the glove box to sort out any questions for options.

Love mine, got on Craigslist from D.C.

Thank you all.. Just got home from the 700 mile trip in a day other than the ride up their in my friends chevy aveo "just like being a shoe box on wheels" the return trip was great the sub ran perfect as it idled down the interstate at 75 mph tuning 2000 rpm getting 18.7 mpg.. I cant belive how well the little 6.5 likes the 3.42 rear compared to the 4.10 in the dually. Ill post up some pics tomorrow when the sun comes up and get it up on the lift and change the oil and tranny fluid and flush the rad just to make sure everything is on the up and up...:sifone:

Yeah, nice score! Just like mine! except color year and 2x instead of 4x. Gotta love the 3:42's eh, I got 19.5mpg on a recent trip :agreed:

Ok I'm a gonna ask. How much did you steal that beauty for??
In my area, that'd go 6-8K. Got mine for 6300 but I had to pull a 25hr trip to get it.

I had good intentions today had all the supplys for oil, tranny, antifreeze services until mom showed up in the 29 model A so i played ford mechanic all day rebuilt the water pump changed the oil and the suburban turned into tomorrows project... I know its not a diesel but here are a couple pics of the old girl..

Nice!

Question for you diesel guys, is it cheaper to run them compared to gas engines?

My wife wants one and I was wondering about the diesel engines.

Diesel gets far better mileage than gas pound for pound and power for power.

That Model 'A' Tudor is really nice... Me envious...:D
I also see a hit & miss motor sitting there. Interesting toys there.

I have ADHD lol.. Between me and me Dad befor he passed he was the Fabricator and i was the gear head so we made a dangous team..LOL
From cars to trucks to hit and miss engines and air planes.. Good Eye to catch the water tank on that engine.. Ill take a couple pics of the hit and miss engines
their is even an old 20hp diesel..
