How many of you folks ever experience the signal housings cracking or breaking at the screw holes on these rigs? weather it's due to age or fitment, I have broken my fair share of them!

On some of the fancier rigs you sometimes find those have a steel chrome trim ring which helps with this but most of them don't have this. I set out today trying to come up with something to reinforce that area and add some support to keep them from breaking along with ones that are already broken but otherwise still good. Trying to give those who don't want to spend the extra on new ones only for them to break again something to help with this.

it's still in mid design stage, but I think it will work out.

Here is what I have so far. It's just half of one side, but eventually I will have the rest setup as a single piece.

the plan is to have this as a single piece surround the housing, it will be recessed to fit and if needed, a second part to serve as a backing plate sammiching it all together.

It's been a chore to get the corners and angles right, print a piece, then measure, fit and go at it again. Here is the part shown above being printed using some basic filament for test fitment.

Here is the complete support on my PC in a rough draft form. Unfortunately it's too long for my printers to handle as a single piece! I have to split it in two with some interlocking sections to print. I am able to orient it sideways on my big printer to get it in one piece but would take 6 hours to print. not ideal for just a draft piece. maybe once I get the final design finished I can do that!
