Glow Plug Opinions (another one)

Hey guys, Im gonna replace all the glows in our 6.2 and need some opinions. The truck is used by a few different drivers so a manual override switch is out of the question.

I wanted to know what you guys think is the best glow plug to replace them with. I dont think the 60G's are necassary as I dont need the self limiting feature, so would I be better off with the hotter 11G's? Or are they prone to swell?

I want to make sure theres gonna be enough heat with the plugs to start this dinosaur when its really cold. Truck is probably the most reliable rig in our fleet (and the oldest!!) and i want to keep it that way.

Thanks
-Nick

I think I am going to get a set of the quick heat plugs from kennedy, as I have used them on my 6.5 with good results. And they are on sale to boot! Still would like to hear opinions.

I would go with the bosch duraterms or what ever they are called.

I have seen zero complaints on them.

I believe the quickheats are the same ones SSDiesel sells and been lots of unhappy customers including me. Maybe they've been redesigned and are better now. The duraterms are comparable to the 60gs except they get hot a lil faster.

2 sets of Duraterms here. Personally I won't run anything else.

Actually pulled a set of 60Gs from my pickup and put the Duraterms in back in 2008. Same set still in there today.

Duraterms in the K-5 too. Those sometimes see the normal GP cycle and 10-15 seconds added time when it's really really cold out and i haven't used the block heater. They took that kind of abuse all last winter, and the winter before that. Put those in back around mid 2010 or so.

Installed Duraterms into an engine i rebuilt the top end on. Even with lower compression(0.010 over HGs) it fired right off on the Duraterms with the normal glow cycle.

I put the Duraterms in; they are self-regulating, and you can safely put in an over-ride.

That being said, the quickheats aren't all bad; John has had good luck with them, and he warranties them, unlike SSDiesel.

And there's the whole difference, with ANY parts. You have to be able to trust your vendor. If John, Bill, Leroy, Dennis, Patrick, etc had sold parts that proved bad, they would honour the warranty and take care of the customer.

Not everybody does that. You can probably save a few bucks on Ebay or through people with private deals, but Price isn't everything.

Which vendor is John?
