Was wondering how much of the glow tip should be red hot when running off standard WTS times. Some things I've read seem to suggest that the whole tip should be red and other's just about a 1/2 inch from the tip. Anyway I tested mine by removing a couple and grounding them to another plug and powering off factory connector. About 1/2 inch from the tip was red with about the ten second WTS 0DegC. I took two of the plugs out and ran them off a fully charged battery. The duraterms took about 12 seconds for the whole tip to glow and the old delco's I had sitting around took about 14. So anyway I've been having a intermittent cold start problem and have checked just about everything. Glows, grounds, voltage, fuel system and I'm left with either the glows are not getting hot enough or injection pump is on it's way out. Truck runs great at other times. The cold start seems to be the same prob as AK diesel was having. TIA and at least it will be warming up here soon.

Yeah I checked the timing it was 12.5 and TDCO was 1.0. I know it's out of range but haven't got around to adjusting it. The truck has always started fine in the cold since I've owned it and I don't think the timing has changed. And I did do the KOKO TDCO relearn when I installed the GL4. Im going to adjust the timing when the weather gets better but I guess that will fix my cold start prob anyway. My duraterms get red on the ends within 5 seconds but take about 10-12 for the whole tip to get red.
