GEP engine question

I'm building a motor with a GEP knock off block and there is a spot next to the oil pump gear drive that is meant for maybe a mechanical fuel pump?
What is the best way to block this off? Soft plugs?

Can you post a pic of the area / hole that you are talking about? The mechanical fuel pump mount is on the right front corner of the block. The turbo oil drain adapter covers that hole. I am confused on the hole that you are talking about.

Mechanical fuel pump would run off the front of the cam and mount in the spot that the turbo oil return goes. Could be a oil return for center mount turbo as in vans and hummers. A picture would help.

If its up by the oil pump drive gear, then he must be talking about the mounting for a center turbo. In any event, a picture would be worth at least 100, if not the more commonly accepted value of 1000 words. Plus I would like to see pictures of the block!

This is the spot I'm talking about. Like Bobbie said it must be for center turbo.

Yep, thats where the center mount turbo goes. Those are the oil feed and oil return holes for the turbo.

Since it is a return, a soft plug or a home made coverplate would work.

I think one is supply and the other return. A soft plug should work, but I would be tempted to tap and install a threaded pipe plug in the supply side. Then you know it can't blow out one cold morning when you start the truck.

the motor is already assembled so I don't think I want to try to tap it so I think I'll make a plate w/ gasket. There are two bolt holes so it should be fine, I think?
Thanks

I wouldn't trust any thing but a pipe plug for oil pressure, maybe you could put soft plugs in and then put the plate on,or stake the holes after installing the plugs.

Have you looked at a parts book and see how the turbo mounts? It looks like they use O rings. If so, cap with soft plugs - maybe two stacked if there is room. Fill with sealer and O ring the cover. That should do it.

If you look at this parts listing it shows the factory oil seal. I would order one and incorporate it into your block off plate. I might be tempted to check with the place you got the block from. You can't be the only one that has this problem. Maybe they have a block off plate.

not trying to step on toes or anything but i just had my 94 6.5t blow the engine because the oil line on the drivers side came off, that engine with even descent oil pressure empties very quick. personally i would take any measure to ensure it wont blow out cold or hot.

Since this engine was set-up for the center mount turbo the turbo oil feed should be threaded. a pipe plug will close that off. The hole with the o-ring seal would be the return. A cap with a gasket or good sealer should seal the crankcase pressure in.
