any one ever do a 350 to 6.5 swap?? how much is involved is it pretty straight forward?

i found an 89 1ton with 89k miles and its pretty damn clean but it has a 350 with a turbo 400 dana 60 frt and 14blt full float rear. the guy is asking 2900.

Pretty much a bolt in swap.

Hydro boost needs to be used for the brakes along with the proper master cyl.

Swap out the fuel pump in the tank and install the Diesel gauge sender and pickup tube.
Onstall the diesel type lift pump inline with an Oil pressure switch interlock to make sure the pump only runs when the engine is on or cranking.

Radiator, oil cooler. Extra battery box.

Need to use a 92 93 DB2 injector pump
Wire up a circuit to supply 12V to to the IP and power to the cold advance through a temp switch to cut off the advance after warmup.

Pretty basic.

The tranny can be run with a vacuum control switch that bolts to the IP.

Basic fuel filters ect.

The TH400 converter will bolt right up to the Six and a half.
This will work fine.

Just take out the SES light so it wont drive you nuts.

Thats about it.

Nice potential for sure, but seems expensive to me.

Thanks missy thought you might chime in on this

it may be a little high but if the body is as good as the pic look it will be a hell of a deal

Would you use the truck for much highway driving?

Just want to be aware the the old & very durable TH400 has no overdrive. Not inherently a problem, but something to consider. If the rear end gear ratios are the same, a little cruising in 4th with your current truck gives an easy way to get a sense of the rpm difference.

the tranny could alwyas be swaped and yes it would a little. mostly it would be a play truck. its down your way actually its in topeka and he got a guy comin to look at it sat im ganna give him a call after 3 and see if hes still got it and if he dose im ganna make a trip to check it out

I would love to see a super documented conversion like this. I would like a true 1500 6.5 Burb.

454 petrol to 6.5 and C to K convert on 93 extra cab dually

How much work is involved as have found a mint 91thousand mile truck of the set up I want but would prefer it to be 6.5 diesel and 4x4 for my line of work and fuel being late $1.85/$2.00 per litre the 454 would break the bank. Local Chev man has estimated $25,000 to $30,000 to do job turn key package. Sounds a bit much to me;)

I'd like to 6.5 one of these...Have highway cruising gears and soft suspension. The 3/4 ton ride sucks compared to the 1/2 ton.

My thoughts exactly guy's I can get an LBZ Duramax crate for $11,000, I'm interested in doing the job on the 454 because all Diesels I've looked at are 250,000ish miles and at 91,000 miles its like new.
Thanks again
Craig

This is it

Its in nice condition at 91,000kms they want $27,000 NZ but the way the economy is here at present they won't sell it.

Ha, I was pretty suprised to see that steering wheel on the right!!
Very clean looking truck though!
I am guessing you are in New Zealand? What does $27,000NZ equal in American?

Exchange Rate.com puts $27K NZD at $20400 USD at today's (22 OCT 09) rate.

Ouch!
