Fuel pressure at idle and WOT

Hey AK riend of mine, been wondering where u are! I got some mods done to my truck! I told these folks about how u n I r fixing the injection heater relay. So I am not very savvy bout computers, I am 53 yrs old and got 6 yrs of college but back then we used calculators and pens with notebooks! LOL How do I research the stickies? I know some r @ the begginning of the forums, r there others or can I find them another way specific to my interest. Also how do I put the stuff about my truck and all @ the bottom of my posts? I dont see a profile update anywhere.

To put your signature with truck info at the bottom, open "settings" found at the top right of this page.

Then scroll down and watch the left side of the page until you see "edit signature".

Type what you want in the text box. You can see what it will look like by clicking "preview signature".

Once you get it the way you want it, just click "save signature" and the forum will insert it at the bottom of all your posts automatically.

You're not alone when it comes to not being computor savvy. I struggle with the computor all the time and it seems like it pins me most of the time. That's when I contact my son or daughter. They laugh at me them fix my problems. I'm slowly proving that you can teach an old dog new tricks.

To set up your signature, go to the top of this page. Under the title of "The Truck Stop" are two horizontal lines of forum functions. Go to the second line and click on "forum actions". Under "forum actions" click on "edit profile". When that page comes up there are two vertical columns. In the left hand column scroll down to "my settings". Under that will be "edit signature". Click on "edit signature" and that will get you to the page where you can set up the signature that will be at the bottom of every post you make.

Something you'll find useful is the "search" function. It will find things for you in the stickies and the regular threads. Again, go to the top of this page. In the first line of forum functions on the far right is a blank white spot which doesn't seem to have a title. To the right of this spot is a small symbol that looks like a magnifying glass. In the blank spot type in the word or words for what you want to search for. Then click on the magnifying glass or hit enter on your keyboard. This will bring up all the threads with your search words. Also, just below this blank spot are the words "advanced search". Clicking on "advanced search" will take you to a page where you can choose more detailed parameters for your search. This function is one I'm still wrestling with to learn how to best use.

You beat me Great White and with what seems to me like an easier path to the correct page. My hunt and peck typing strikes again, and my compulsion for always checking for spelling errors, which always are many.

Yup, me too.

I also use spellcheck on firefox.

I don't need it much, but it does catch "teh" and a few other words I get wrong while madly trying to get my thoughts into electrons with 2 fingers at a time.....

My son and daughter have been trying to get me away from Internet Explorer. I despise all the ads and ultra-liberal garbage with the big media lies that are on the other sites.I guess I'll just have to see if I can somehow bypass all the garbage.

GW, your description is exactly what I am dealing with. I actually took typing in junior high, way back when. I couldn't make my fingers work for that. My fingers are more in tune with doing actual physical work.

We're getting way away from the origional topic. My apologies to the origional poster.

cowboy leg.jpgflamin leg.jpg :hihi:Ok all u motorheads here r my two wonderful modes of transportation and a description of their mods. The one with the beauitiful horses galloping is a BK custom cast socket by Cape Fear Prosthetics with a extra long 3 in. locking pin attachment to a Alpha Gel liner. It has a carbon fiber foot with separate independant heel from foot flexion that stores energy and can rotate 15 degrees to the right or left for a total rotation of 30 degrees! Very impressive! It can also roll sideways to the left and right to relieve stress on the hip and ankle. It has a state of the art hydraulic power loaded heel to toe rocker that loads the hydraulic pressure when the heel strikes and as the foot rolls forward to the ball of the foot and starts to load the toes a valve releases the hydraulic pressure and literally in conjunction with the carbon fiber foot, similiar to a compound archery bow, it throws the foot up into the air to get more energy to the leg to lift without strain on the residual limb. The pylon connecting the foot to the socket has at its base a fluid filled shock absorber to prevent the battering of the hip joint as a load absorbing object! Very nice feature, gets a lot more mpg folks! LOL The pylon itself is also carbon fiber to facilitate as much reduction in weight as possible. The pylon is connected to the foot with a titanium collar secured with 4 mm allen screws with one facing in each direction to give a very positive strong grip, u really dont want ur tranny to slip here guys cause the resulting separation of bands involves ur butt hiting the pavement at who knows what velocity! Ouch for real! Additionally the top of the pylon is fastened to the socket via a ratcheting locking mechanism that accepts a notched pin attached to the gel liner that is rolled much like a sock onto the residual limb, it to is titanium and has on the side a groove that u can insert a quarter into to make sure by cranking the ratchet that the pin is as tight into the locking mechanism as possible, u really dont want the limb pistoning in and out of the socket since that will cause chaffing and skin loss on the lateral tibia bone enh! The artwork on the socket is printed on a special fabric that is glued to the carbon fiber, of by the way the socket is 4 layers of carbon fiber flex fabric laminated together with a activator applied similiar to the hardener in bondo under immense vacuum to pull the carbon fibers layers tight to the cast form of my residual limb ie. , stump to you folks, then the picture fabric is sprayed with a clear acrylic that is absolutely scratchproof and resistant to everything I have encountered to date. Approximate cost with residual limb accessories $32000.00, they are a must have! Really! LOL Now can we get back on the subject please cause u guys have no idea how much I need ur help to get me to the trail rides so I can use the second leg pictured, yes it has flames on it! LOL Figured u motor heads would like it! Anyway its for dancing, they have a dance after supper at the trailrides and I do like huggin up to them two legged women! The other leg is for walking on rough ground and riding the horse. Do yall like my mods????? If u like I can explain the dancing leg too since its a totally different mod system but I figure yall r confused enough! LOL I am gonna make that GMC Dually run like a scared haunt cause I am The Worlds Greatest One Legged Cowboy, if its wearin hair I can ride it, if its got a beat I can dance to it and most importantly if its got a wheel I can driveit!!!!! More pics of my air cleaner system on the next post for u Buddy.

Workin on learnin how to use the pc and this forum now aint I !!!! Hand cannon here are the pics of my air cleaner system. Do I understand I can fabricate a ram air scoop that will give me more power? I am estimating a 10% loss of power from the wvo so I am hoping all of the simple mods u all r teaching me will get me back to stock power while running my wvo blend. The pic of the elephant trunk thing in the fender is really fastened in there tight, can I take a utility knife and cut part of it out? Seems like I could get a ram air thing hooked to it somehow. Leroy I was looking @ ur post about the suburban mod project, if ur fav color to paint the engine parts is grey on the vacuum gauge mode where u use a pvc elbo and u paint it grey u could use electrical conduit, its already grey and much more heat resistant. I use to be a electrical construction sparky in the old days. thanks guys, I hope yall enjoy my spoof about mods to my legs! LOL

Hey Bill, Thats a good idea on the ST ELL.
You do have the snorkle in your fender, remove it. They are tight fitting, if you can cut it go ahead, just get it all out.

Found and read the OPS and lift pump sticky. Yall know that search thing dont give u anything for "OPS" or "OPS mod". Just thought to let u know. Anyway I now know why I want to do the OPS mod. Not real sure how 4 sure but will figure it out. Can I buy a OPS to cut open instead of looking n junkyards? Leroy my hand aint gonna reach inside that fender to get all of that snorkle out, do I need it all?

Good pics. Looking at the second pic has got my mind whirling. I'm thinking you may be able to get your input air without messing with the snorkle delete. What's the size of the currugated flex tube that's between the air muffler and the filter cannister snorkle? Is it 4"? Can you get a 4" street Ell into the end of the flex? I used some 4" flex tubing that was made for a sawdust vacuum system on my 83 6.2 air intake system. If so, you may be able to snake the 4" vac tubing down and go under the battery to the radiator core support. It would take a bit of modifying to the battery tray legs but I think it is possible. Do you have, or have access to welding equipment, or a friend who welds?

I need to get out to the garden and get some stuff transplanted. It's FINALLY dry enough that I was able Friday to till the garden without tilling up mudballs. We've had so much rain and cool weather here that the rivers are running high, more from the heavy rains than the mountain snow melt. The daily temps have been mostly in the high 60s or low 70s. It's been cool and wet enough that the local strawberry crop is almost non-existant. Strawberries are usually in mid season by now.

I should have enough time later this afternoon to get some pics of my 83s intake air system. I'll try to post them for you, if I can get this computor to do what I want it to.

I understood quite a bit of your spoof. I wear an AFO (ankle foot orthotic) due to ankle drop from spinal cord damage.

Hello, here is my first mod to my 1991 GMC 3500 6.2L Dually naturally aspirated, thats non-turbo for us cowboy hammer and vise grip types! LOL This mod eliminates the snorkle system inside the passenger front wheel well, according to the sources on this and the Kennedy Diesel site this is a huge and very cost effective mod for improved performance on the older 6.2 and 6.5 non-turbo and turbo both, err that means cheap or in this case FREE!!!! First remove your air cleaner and the plastic tubes connecting the air cleaner to the fender well. Mine is a big round old style air cleaner centered over the engine. Its the first pic of the overhead view of my engine compartment. Look inside the snorkle inside the fender and you will see a bolt holding the snorkle in place, it is not a bolt but instead a plastic push in fastener, grad it with the vise grips and pull it out, cowboy likes vise grips!!!! Next remove battery and u will c a small bolt above a larger bolt, the larger bolt holds the battery tray in place. Remove the bolt. U should now be able to freely wiggle and shake the snorkle. The snorkle is made of a rubbery plastic, it will not break no matter how you bend, fold or distort it, Grab the snorkle and by pulling it toward the coolant reservoir u can work it out of the fender, it will get jammed into place just keep folding and wadding it into a wad and jerking and pulling and it will keep working out. Its not that long and it gets smaller in diameter as u go so its easier and easier to pull out. When you get it out it will return to its former shape with no evidence of the abuse you just gave it so work away cowboys and bring that baby into this world just like a stuck calf not willing to enter this cold cruel world! LOL The pic of it sticking a third of the way out is the one where u can see part of the coolant reservoir tank. The last pic is what the snorkle looks like before u start this mud. The pic of my hand in front of the snorkle is for size reference. Make sure u use a air hose to blow out the inside of the fender, mine had a lot of sand and loose gritty dirt in it. There u r done with that part of the air box mod. My next post will have a mod u need to make to the larger diameter plastic muffler that is in between the fender and the actual air filter. How did I do fellow diesel people????

oops remove the smaller bolt behind the battery not the one holding the battery tray in position. Can some fix this please, we dont need people trying to yank the snorkle out and it still bolted in place!

airboxinlet2_sm.jpgair filter muffler.jpgfilter muffler.jpgAll right moving right along today. Handcannon and the rest of yall here are my concerns and questions about this air cleaner situation. I am going to put some pics on here of the air cleaner muffler interior. The previous owner had done a mod to it and cut part of the interior out. I guess it was to cut the funnel shaped flange that would have mated to the flange on the snorkle. This would have been done to decrease turbilence and to keep the flange from impeding air flow. Now this is my question. The end of the muffler that attaches to the fender is in excess of 4 inches. As u can see the interior necks down, I measured it and its 2 inches in diameter. The other end of the muffler is also just short of 4 inches and has saw marks so something has ben cut or filled off as well. That 2 inch restriction bothers me, the inside of the muffler is actually a separate piece, u can wiggle and shake it. Shouldnt I just cut the whole thing out of the inside of the muffler????? The inner linning starts out and necks down to 2 inches halfway thru the muffler and then gradually expands back out to 4 inches at the other end of the muffler. Ther are also 4 holes drilled equal spacing in the neck of this liner, probably half inch. The pick of a turbo style air box is there to show what I feel was cut out of the air muffler where it flanged to the snorkle. I got it off the Kennedy Diesel site.

behind head lite.jpgNow lets discuss the bottom photo on my previous post. The grayish plastic shaped odject behind the ribbed wire conduit is the part that attaches to the area behind the headlite and supplys air to the inside of the fender well. I assume I should leave it in place???? I have slipped the end of the snorkle up to this because it seems I could fab the things together and eliminate the severe right angle connection of the snorkle to the air cleaner muffler and achieve a air ram effect????? The snorkle would fit between the battery and fender. I am assuming the necked down right angle and flange system was where the bottleneck for the air occurred???? I put a pic in this post of the area behind the headlite beside this plastic conduit because there is a 4 inch or so hole that would relieve air pressure generated, looks like U could block this and force more air n 2 the inlet of the factory air ram thing???? Actually u could probably instal a 45 angle wing behind the grill next to the headlite to really cause more air to push in???? Only question I have is what prevents moisture from entering the system ??? Was that part of the snorkles original purpose????

Thanks in advance for u all bearing with me and my newbie situations. So I just put the air filter all back on and studied the situation a lil better about the air ram effect. The area inside the fender that houses the snorkle seems to be a closed area other than the opening where u hook up the plastic muffler connection to the plastic tube that hooks to the round air filter housing and the area opening where the plastic piece behind the head lite area hooks to the fender. Now I have not taken this piece off but it appears to be a small ram air intake to capture air forced behind the headlite thru the grill. I put a piece of cardboard over the 4 inch hole behind the headlite and wedged a electric fence insulator between it and the air ram so air cannot escape out the hole. I wish I knew the geography of the opening to the mini air scoop. Anyway test drove it down the road and @ 55 mph I was doing a shade over 2300 rpms, before it seems like I would be doing 2500 rpms @ 55 mph. Also doing 60 mph @ 2500 rpms now. I have only had the truck for 1000 miles and have adjusted the TPS and run Chevron Techron in every fillup but I have done nothing else and I swear I think it used to do 55 @ 2500 rpm. What do yall think? Have I hit on something or not? Also about the air filter muffler that has the gradual narrowing from 4 inches to 2 inches and gradual widening to 4 inches again. I think I remember something about hydraulic mining with water where u narrow the hose gradually and then when u widen it back out u get a huge pressure release, could this be the purpose of that and if so wouldnt I want to keep that effect, it would be sorta like a turbine release I think. The other question I have is if all this is true and accurate is the effect worth any power or just a small insignificant fact with no true value to towing or fuel mpg????? By the way not to start a big discussion but the Mercedes guy that is a diesel guru that u talk to when u need advice on the old diesel classics swears by using Chevron Techron to clean things up when ur diesel seems to have everything correct but dont run right. I have clogged my Mercedes up somewhat with coke, carbon etc from the wvo and the Techron cleaned it up so that might have had a effect, used it twice on the truck. Hey just estimating but this 6.2 gets what I think is impossible good mileage around home! Got 27 mpg on a 200 mile trip bringing it home when I bought it and thats accurate, dont know what it gets knocking around home.
