Today I notice my fuel gauge bounching between Full and 45* to the right of full then finally worked back to quarter tank. Is it a loose ground or loose fuel sender?

Mine did that until it stopped working all together. When I got the tank open the float was broken as well as the pipe that lifted the fuel. Needed a new fuel sending unit.

Sounds like mine! Been doing it for quite a while...no problems, just annoying. Check your grounds like stated above. I believe there is a small one right on top of the tank/sending unit that goes to the frame.

X2

but checking for a good gnd is much easier than dropping the tank, try that 1st, you could even rig a temporary jumper gnd to see if it got better, but I've been 2 for 2 in truck & burb with (1) bad sending units in each vehicle.
